Consider for a moment where our civilization would be without fossil fuels...probably stuck in about the 17th century. There would be no industrial revolution, no autos, no planes.. agricultural production would be done with oxen, horses or mules. What mechanization existed would depend on water power or windmills. There would be no mass production of steel, no railroads no real mass production of any kind. Arnold is anidiot.
Coal is a fossil fuel. It is mentioned in the Bible and likely was used in the late Bronze and early Iron age. So to go back in time to prevent the use of coal, you are essentially saying that you want to return to the Bronze age.

I think that his sanity went with them.
If Arnold went back in time and started any kind of a ruckus, they probably would have filled him full of holes and exhibited his bullet riddled corpse outside of the undertakers shop in a coffin for public display and photographs.
