The sensationalism is this story is bad. GBS is a bad actor but can happen with any viral challenge or disease and generally resolves completely. The press forgot that little tidbit. More people will die unvaccinated from flu than will die from GBS. Chances are better than 98% this guy will have compete resplutoon of symptoms with the residual most often being mild numbness in the hands or feet. This article is great disservice.
Meanwhile, good thing we can trust the CDC.
How about this guy. Do you think this is going to resolve:
Senator promotes flu shot, receives it, gets sick and dies age 47, mainstream media playing dumb
The Flu shot hardly ever even works. More people get sick from it than those who don’t get the flu because of it. It is BS. It is a way for drug companies to make a ton of money.
I had a sister-in-law who had GBS years ago. She was a hospital floor nurse at the time, so assumed it was contracted from work. She did eventually have a complete recovery; until suicide took her in 2014.
I know a retired orthopedic surgeon — he must be in his nineties by now. The last time I saw him, he was getting over bout of flu. I asked him if he’d had a flu shot. No, he said, he never does. For the record, he’s doing fine now and leads an active life.
Are they still using Thermasol? Nothing like getting an annual dose of mercury.
So we should look forward to a resplutoon? Or avoid one at all costs?
Good job reporting the truth.
This type of BS nonsense is what you get by reading crazy kooks like Alex Jones and other similar conspiracy morons. To say they are ignorant, stupid and Venal money grabbers is an understatement.
I beg to differ with you. A couple of years ago a friend of mine mentioned she had gotten a flu shot at a fundraising committee meeting. The next day she didn't show up for the fundraiser.
We were shocked to find she had been transferred to a university hospital with Guillain-Barré Syndrome - all she could move was her toe. She died within days.
My friend was very healthy before the flu shot.
Do you know anyone who had Guillain-Barré Syndrome? My neighbor did and almost died from it. It’s not like getting a cold.
yes, and GB is more a risk of under cooked chicken than the flu shot..
Well said. Saw folk with GB in ICU back in the 80s even who came all the way back eventually. Don't recall having flu shots then except for swine. Any virus will do the trick.
Chances are better than 98% this guy will have compete resplutoon of symptoms with the residual most often being mild numbness in the hands or feet.
I pray that is so!
“Chances are better than 98% this guy will have compete resplutoon of symptoms...”
You may want to re-check your numbers.
That's the norm for stuff from Alex Jones and the Infowars crowd.
Speaking of which, I thought we couldn't post Alex Jones stuff on FR...
That is true, but few people are even aware of the risk. Personally, I don't think otherwise healthy people should not get these kinds of shots. I certainly don't. Older folks, and those with shakier health might want to do so, but for me, I can deal with a few days with the sniffles in the unlikely event that I come down with it.
