I have decided to call #EUCO on #Brexit (Art. 50) on Thursday. We will not renegotiate the deal, including the backstop, but we are ready to discuss how to facilitate UK ratification. As time is running out, we will also discuss our preparedness for a no-deal scenario.— Donald Tusk (@eucopresident) December 10, 2018

The Brits are going to replay that scene and discuss it for years to come. I didn’t know they could not pass laws unless that object was in the assembly room. “Put it back!” will be a famous, even heroic phrase.
It’s somewhat like the Tabernacle in a Catholic Church.

European leaders were already due in Brussels at a summit on Thursday but Mr Tusk's spokesman said they would now meet specifically to discuss how to prepare for a no-deal scenario.

Mrs May will set off on another intense round of diplomacy before then, travelling to The Hague and Berlin to meet her Dutch and German counterparts on Tuesday.

She will then meet Mr Tusk and European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels.

The EU is going to give UK the Brexit that people voted for (so-called no deal).
The bastards.

If only a patriotic Brit was PM of GB. He would tell Merkel to pound kraut and put the Army and Navy on alert. Tell her any EU oversteps on borders, high seas, etc. will be met with military force. Brexit problem solved.

“I didn’t know they could not pass laws unless that object was in the assembly room. “

Amazing, inane, and insane.

In our congress the Congressional Sergeant At Arms can be instructed to take our Mace and display it during a disruption.

The prime minister now hopes to secure an exchange of letters or side-declarations pledging that the backstop in the withdrawal agreement, which could keep the UK in an indefinite customs union, would be temporary and unlikely to come into force.

No deal is the best deal. Clean break, let the chips fall where they may (possible pun intended).

Theresa May. I’ve never seen somebody work so hard, in public, to betray her country. It’s friggen Orwellian. She belongs hanging from a yard arm.

Is that just a rhetorical flourish, or do you seriously believe the enactment of that adolescent fantasy would achieve anything?

Far from the first time this has happened. More famously, I would suggest, was when Michael Heseltine swung the mace in the chamber in 1976 (on a comparitively minor matter- ‘pairing’). It helped secure his nickname of ‘Tarzan.’

He later went on to be Deputy Prime Minister under Major but will always be remembered as the man whose leadership challenge sparked the end of Margaret Thatcher’s time in Downing Street.

In the minds of the EU intellectuals....they believe that the Brit world will fall apart if there is no deal. Their chatter, since the day after the EU referendum in Britain....has gone that direction.

My suspicion is that May is on her last 30 days as PM, and will have to step down....the deal will never occur.

At that point, President Trump will arrive and conclude probably the most remarkable deal ever imagined. It will be some kind of package where Americans and Brits can travel back and forth, without any visas or paperwork. It’ll be a relationship like we share with Canada. You will start to see hundreds of Americans arriving monthly, and either going right to work, or doing start-up companies.

The EU will be standing there in shock....that they were totally wrong about the no-deal situation killing off the Isle.

They need time but not after the deadline. If it isn’t done right, then watch for Brexit 2.0.

People willing to kill while taking the risk of being killed will generally be able to impose their wills on those willing to do neither. Europe is ripe for the picking. That said, I doubt that the UK has enough pickers left to do anything—but if they did, they could be free.

May is the only thing standing in the way. I am in a former Brit colony and they all hate her.

UK should form a separate alliance with Poland, Check, Slovakia, Hungary and the Baltics.

I’d be wary about the travel though. The Brits have an awful lot of scummy muzzies with Brit passports.
