Mike Flynn Unexpectedly Seeks Delay in Sentencing
WSJ ^ | 12/18/2018 | Byron Tau

A federal judge lambasted former national security adviser Mike Flynn in court Tuesday, threatening to upend a proposed agreement between him and prosecutors that he should receive a lenient sentence after his extensive cooperation with investigators.

“I’m not hiding my disgust—my disdain—for this criminal offense,” said U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan. He questioned whether Mr. Flynn had truly accepted responsibility for his crimes, including lying to FBI agents, and suggested he might require incarceration, despite prosecutors’ contention that Mr. Flynn deserves no jail time.

Judge Sullivan seemed especially troubled by Mr. Flynn’s lobbying work for Turkish interests and his attempts to undermine the foreign policy of the Obama administration during the weeks between Election Day 2016 and President Trump’s inauguration. Mr. Flynn wasn’t charged with crimes for those actions.

“All along, you were an unregistered agent of a foreign country while serving as the national security adviser to the president of the United States,” said Judge Sullivan, who was appointed by President Clinton and has a history of expressing himself vividly in court. “Arguably that undermines everything this flag over here stands for. Arguably you sold your country out.”

Flynn has been bankrupted. He had to sell his house to pay his legal fees leading up to his guilty plea.

A private citizen has no chance against the full weight of the government. Do not judge General Flynn on this. There are a lot of things he is due criticism on, but this is not one of them.

HE SHOULD OF TOLD THE JUDGE THAT, AND SAID ONE AGENT SAID HE DID NOT LIE. PLUS MULEHEAD THREATENED TO GO AFTER HIS SON.

This is not something you can say in a sentencing hearing where you've pled guilty in a cooperative deal with the prosecutor.

You can only say this if you're the defendant and you're in an adversarial relationship with the prosecutor.

This is why Sullivan went overboard trying to get Flynn to vacate his plea deal.

Good post.

I would not judge Flynn for his approach to these legal proceedings.

My biggest criticism of him is that it seems like every decision he made from mid-2016 through January 24th of 2017 was the absolute worst decision he possible could have made -- both for himself and for his boss (Donald Trump).

Hopefully, in the case of ‘Oberreichsanwalt’ Muëller, ‘orange is the new dark’ suit! I’m sure Herr Muëller misses the days of the old ‘Volksgerichtshof’!

Lwt us hope that ‘orange’ becomes the requisite colour for many of the ‘deep state’ types.

I suspect the judge knows all of that intimately. The erratic behavior of the judge makes me deeply suspicious...and I am already suspicious.

I expected it. Judge Maggot went from
questioning the existance of the crime and complaining about Pig Mueller’s entrapment to attacking Flynn.

Like Chief Justice Roberts, he bin spoken to.

Now you don’t REALLY agree anymore with
Dummy Dubya about the necessity of the government collecting all that data on every American, do you?

At this point there are only two paths:
capitulation or resistance.
All others have been exhausted.

It started off with not having White House counsel accompany him to tha meeting.

He naively assumed they were all on the same team. Big mistake.

The judge said he's never allowed a person to plead guilty when they were not guilty and he isn't about to start now.

he extended sentencing to March to give Flynn "time to think about his plea". This could be bad news for the Witch Hunter team.

I believe it was a Dutch company working as a front for the Turkish government.

I haven't researched the details, but that may have been specified in the two indictments of the Flynn associates that were unsealed last week.

Yes, but then the Judge flip flopped

Flynn KNEW the fix was in, the Judge was compromised and he did the only thing he could.

< i>He practically begged Flynn's legal team with withdraw the guilty plea so action could properly be taken against Mueller during the course of a contested legal proceeding.

NO action will ever be taken. No one wants their family destroyed by Herr Mueller and the Swamp Mafia.
