The Green New Deal, explained(Laugh-In)
vox.com ^ | 12/21/2018 | David Roberts

An insurgent movement is pushing Democrats to back an ambitious climate change solution. If the recent report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is to be believed, humanity has just over a decade to get carbon emissions under control before catastrophic climate change impacts become unavoidable.

The Republican Party generally ignores or denies that problem. But the Democratic Party claims to accept and understand it.

It is odd, then, that Democrats do not have a plan to address climate change.

AOC front and center in the fight to save the erf. Their banner is awesome isn't it? Probably made from something derived from petroleum production. They probably think it's "just plastic". Besides, aren't they a couple decades past the end times? Does that make them neo-libs? Yup. Truth is stranger than fiction. Now for an update from Dumbassistan University........

It is not to be believed. False premise.

10 years is what al gore said in 2006.

Just a word to all FReepers when challenged by libidiots that “AGW is settled science.”

1) No science is settled.
2) There is no such thing as “consensus” in science. If a consensus of scientists decided pi was 3.15 that would not make it so.
3) AGW meets exactly zero criteria of a Scientific Theory
4) If AGW was science there would be ONE model and it would be predictive. AGW has a zero % batting average.

These people are literally insane.

They think they can create something from nothing.

There is no mention of why the U.S. should "decarbonize" when the rest of the earth will be creating more carbon dioxide than we get rid of.

In other words: What is the point of this?

They have no grasp of reality.

These people have been brain-washed for so long on global warming, climate change, the coming ice age or whatever the latest iteration of the hoax is, that they actually believe the earth as we know will end if we don't do something, like.... well....40 years ago.

Every few years the warnings and dire prediction go out and then when they don't happen, the environmental whackos, just make new predictions of impending doom, which do not come to pass either.

How many time have we all heard that if we don't do something right now, then we're all going to die?

Too many times to be believable anymore.

Make them live up to their ideas as Saul Alinsky said. Zip tie their hands behind their backs and then cut off their C02 use by taping off their noses and mouths.

IIRC algore announced almost 20 years ago that all the world's major coastal cities would be under water by now.

Yet it wasn't long ago that he bought a Malibu beachfront mansion.

And just last week I was on the West Side of Manhattan and the Hudson River looked pretty much the way it has looked for the last 10,000 years....only a bit dirtier

“...But the Democratic Party claims to accept and understand it....”

Only the insane can understand the insane...
It’s all about the money. They want to fleece the “unwashed masses” of trillions in new taxes. They no more give a hoot about the “climate” than the man in the moon. They’re after trillions of dollars to fund their insane communist BS.

They said that thirty years ago. And twenty years ago. And ten years ago.

Good replies. Here’s a favorite of mine:

Settled Science? Oh you mean like when Science was convinced the Earth was flat?

There’s a FReeper who always post a “OK, time for a history lesson!” post, about how the sun is 20 million times bigger than the Earth and we are just specks.

That is abclily and her post is the most oft repeated trite post in the history of FR. It is absolutely cringe-worthy.

12,000 years ago that part of present day Manhattan and most of the North American continent was under a sheet of ice five miles thick. Things change over time.

I enjoy when the AGW zealots get all sciencey and try to convince me to repent and see the error of my ways.

If *e=mc^2 is just a theory, what's that make of your holy writ?

*to avoid getting into field equations, etc.

Don't know if you've ever been to Central Park but,if not, there are a number of strange looking rocky "outcrops" in the southern part of the park (I'm less familiar with the northern half). They say that those "outcrops" were deposited there thousands of years ago by a glacier.

And the funny thing is that that glacier disappeared *long* before the development of the internal combustion engine.

Been to Central Park hundreds of times. In the 80’s I worked renovating The Essex House Hotel. Yes, all those out croppings and big rocks you see there were left by glaciers.
