When a cue ball is struck on either side of its vertical axis, giving it side spin, that's called "English" in billiards. It may also occur when a ball collides with another or with a rail. The term comes from the British players who first became famous with sidespin techniques
all proffesional biliards players should be proficient in English
I think the obsession with drugs as the cause of every accident and mistake is fascinating. Especially in light of the fact that the drug Alchohol has caused more death and destruction over the course of history but is absolutely OK.
Most IDIOTS are absolutely drug free
I don’t use alcohol or other drugs. Can’t stand either.
What does that have to do with billiards? Would drunk people understand it?

It is definitely not OK if you are driving, operating machinery, and so on. I’m actually in favor of more severe penalties for driving drunk. In the age of Uber, there really is no excuse for it. People in Europe get faced all the time, having a designated driver or by using public transportation.

True. But if you are being paid to do a job, is it really too much to ask to show up sober/not stoned, or being the least stupid that one can possibly be?
I was injured twice (one of those times I escaped serious, life-changing injury with a combination of young reflexes and luck) by stoned co-workers. I’m all for personal freedom - until someone loses a hand or worse - because someone else didn’t follow procedures, being too screwed up to do them properly.
I don’t know how businesses handle this in “legal pot” states. The real problem as I see it is there is no legally set, scientific, repeatable test to determine if you are “stoned”, unlike the situation with alcohol.
Just about the only thing I LIKED about Illinois is that they had a concept of “contributory negligence” with car accidents. If you weren’t wearing seat belts, you could get your medical bills paid, but not jack sh.. for pain and suffering, because YOU contributed to it. Maybe this concept could be used in the inevitable industrial situations with drugs.
Over the course of History, death and destruction haven't been tested for the use of BOTH forms of drugs.
Last year, what pop-star was it who was arrested for drag-racing his Ferrari on Miami Beach residential streets? (Positively found with alcohol and marijuana in his system).
