I wonder about the “mini mansion or McMansion” term. I live in a 2500+ sq ft home but it’s small compared to what I see around here...it’s an older home, built in 1970 or so and with a basement (now finished). But, it’s not huge comparatively, or two story foyer, etc. The kitchen and other rooms were updated 8 years before we bought so I guess it’s only 26 years old in some rooms (and we updated the MBR bath and powder room but the hall bath is still 1970 lol).
My daughter and son in law just bought a home in our town. Split level, 1600 Sq ft. And they paid $17,000 more than we did for our 2500+ sq ft home in a nicer neighborhood. We could sell our house for close to $400,000 now.
Also, for the last 5 or so years, I’ve seen many For Sale signs and looking online, many are foreclosures.
