Every person I talk to about immigration are shocked when I tell them this one FACT about immigration.
From 1954 until 1965 there was virtually NO immigration allowed.
The thinking was it would allow those already in the country to ASSIMILATE and not create a burden on the rest of the country.

The documentary about the Ellis Island Hospital is very interesting.maybe citizenship should only be offered after a renewal period of a couple years. That way we would have more information about how well immigrants are assimilating and contributing to society.
For sure, citizenship should not be granted till they’ve taken the required courses and learned English, and a certain period of time for assimilation.
