A sculpture celebrating Saudi Arabias place in the G20 Summit was erected on the World Trade Center grounds last week, a stones throw away from the 9/11 memorial.
Shaped to resemble a piece of candy, the nine-foot-tall statue bears the Kingdoms emerald flag emblazoned with the Arabic inscription, There is no god but Allah, and Mohammed is the prophet. It was created by French sculptor Laurence Jenkell in 2011 as part of the larger installation Candy Nation which depicts G20 countries as sugary delights, and has since been featured in over 25 countries. All 20 sculptures are currently on display outside the Oculus shopping center.

Wow. So Saudi Arabia, which has been linked to at least some of the 9/11 terrorists, has been allowed to write in their candy statue
There is no god but Allah, and Mohammed is the prophet. ...
'The installation was curated and installed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. ' This statue has been placed right at the World Trade center, at the site of the attack on "ground zero."
How is this even possible? I guess the people in charge of the New York and New Jersey Port of Authority don't realize how improper this is?
The attack on the world trade center was done in the name of the same "god."
Never mind that a message about the God of the bible, Elohim, would have never been allowed, but this one was allowed? How does this make any sense? More so conveying the message that "there is no other god"? ...
I don’t believe that picture is at ground zero. In fact, I think it might be Midtown and the candies are from several different cultures/countries. What it says in Arabic, I have no idea.
Yup
This thing stakes a claim to territory.
Your post makes it look like I was the one who said not all Muslims are evil.
I used the width=60% qualifier with the img tag. Now the pix will size correctly no matter what type of screen it's displayed on.
Given the weather this time of year in NYC, I wonder how much use those outdoor tables and chairs get?
Muslims are not necessarily evil but Islam is absolute evil. Some Muslims are the deceived victims of the evil system. That is Paul's message from Ephesians 6:12.
Lol..what post?
#22 which was removed. May seem like a little thing but I don’t want to be linked to any comments favorable to Islam or Muslims.
Explain how my asking how we can tell the difference some how shines a light on you?
Thanks. Ill use that qualififier in future (now that I know about it!).
You’re welcome. Wish more FReepers would use it :)
The first line in your post to me was a quote from another poster that said ,’Not all Muslims are evil’. I never said that but your post, since you were replying to me, made it look like I did.
That was my concern. Again, may seem trivial but I don’t want thoughts attributed to me that weren’t mine. Especially when it’s something that could be viewed as something favorable to Muslims or Islam in general which I consider 100% evil.
May the Lord Jesus bless
