An aide to President Obama boasted to the New York Times about lying and manipulating the media to sell the administrations Iran policy. Mr. Obama himself proselytized for his health-care plan by saying that, despite mandatory requirements that outlawed millions of individual health plans, youd be able to keep your existing plan. Nor is there the slightest ambiguity now: His administration deliberately lied to the American people about the origins of the 2012 terrorist attack on a U.S. consulate in Libya.
We could go on. Candidate Obama, in a formal address, explained that Detroits financial troubles were due to its large, gas-guzzling cars. This was ridiculous. Businesses fail because of products that dont make money, not the ones that do. But smart pols know which fibs the media will applaud...

“I never have sex with that woman . . Miss Lewinsky.”
had not have
Detroit died because lying greedy politicians decided that large successful car companies must be regulated, unionized, taxed, squeezed and controlled until they’re no longer large or successful.
L8r
Mayor Coleman Young also helped to shove Detroit under the bus.
Either one of those was a lie.
I reject the premise. I can't think of ONE lie that the Donald has told.
Coleman Young was one of the top vote-getters on P.J. O’Rourke’s Enemies List for TAS back in the ‘90s.
Screw WSJ and their paywall.
Especially: unionized.
Unions destroyed the UK auto industry.
Attorney David Schippers was asked by his friend, Congressman Henry Hyde, to be Chief Investigative Counsel
for the US House Judiciary Committee. Schippers, a lifelong Democrat, accepted and took the job in April 1998.
The Hyde Committee was holding an inquiry on whether Clinton had committed impeachable offences in his handling
of the Paula Jones sexual harassment suit..... during which Clinton committed perjury regarding his affair with
Monica Lewinsky. The committee in December 1998 voted to impeach Clinton........a decision supported by Schippers.
On December 10, 1998, Schippers said to the committee:
"The President, then,
<><> has lied under oath in a civil deposition,
<><> he lied under oath in a criminal grand jury.
<><> he lied to the people,
<><> he lied to his Cabinet,
<><> he lied to his top aides,
<><> and now he's lied under oath to the Congress of the United States.
There's no one left to lie to."
All of Clinton's misdeeds occurred while he was a sitting President.
(A) 37 WH visits from Lewinsky, (B) the subsequent lies, and, (C) the cover-up.
I don’t believe that it is unlawful for a politician to lie to the public, but it should be. Their oath ought to read, “..swear to uphold and defend the Constitution...,...and to never lie to the American public.”
Politicians have lied since they first started running for office when the first Real Congress was started. Comes natural to them.
