The hosts of “Fox & Friends” on Monday apologized for showing a graphic saying Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is dead, blaming a control room error.
The graphic, similar to those marking the deaths of other famous figures, briefly showed a photo of Ginsburg and the dates “1933-2019.”
“We need to apologize … A technical error in the control room triggered a graphic of RBG with a date on it,” co-host Steve Doocy said later in the program. “We don’t want to make it seem anything other than that was a mistake. That was an accident.”
“We apologize, big mistake,” co-host Ainsley Earhardt added.
A Fox News spokesperson told The Hill: “This was a technical error that emanated from the graphics team."
Ginsburg, 85, is working from home as she continues to recover from surgery to remove cancerous nodules from her lung.
The court announced that there is no evidence of remaining cancer and Ginsburg is expected to return to the bench.
She missed oral arguments this month for the first time .....

Just blame it on a nameless, faceless ‘Intern’.
They may have jumped the gun but I’m pretty sure they got the years right in that graphic.
Just preparing for the event so that when it happens they can
immediately have screen captions, etc available. No waiting
while getting things together for display.
They’re not wrong, they’re just early.
I find I keep updating my browser waiting for the headline Ruth Ginsburg no longer with us.
That's a half-baked explanation. The graphics team doesn't run the production of the show. It might, however, have already worked up a graphic design for when RBG dies. But this is no different from many newspapers who have ready-to-print life bios on notable people in case they die.
