Gun rights groups pan AG nominee Barr: ‘We don’t need another enemy’
The National Sentinel ^ | January 21, 2019 | National Sentinel

There is a reason why William Barr, who is POTUS Donald Trump’s pick to become the next attorney general, is a favorite among the establishment crowd in Washington, D.C., and it likely has less to do with his legal credentials than his policy credentials: He’s not a big supporter of the founders’ vision of the Second Amendment.

At least, that’s what a number of gun rights organizations are saying.

In a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), the Firearms Policy Coalition said it was opposed to Barr’s confirmation as Attorney General on the grounds that he has previously voiced support for Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPO), or what are commonly referred to as “red flag laws,” as well as his opinion that “there is room for reasonable regulation” of gun rights under the Constitution.

That’s troubling because the language of the Second Amendment makes it clear that government has no authority to regulate firearms in the first place: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

The “well-regulated militia” part has been adequately carried out. Militias were formed as early as 1636 with the first arrival of colonists from Britain; they were formalized as the National Guard under the Militia Act of 1903.

But the “shall not be infringed” part of the Second Amendment has been routinely ignored by local, state, and federal lawmakers dating back to the National Firearms Act of 1938, which imposed federal licensing requirements one gun makers, gun importers, and retail gun sellers (the birth of the ‘FFL’ — Federal Firearms License). No other amendment requires Americans to get government permission in the form of a license in order to enjoy its protections.

Gun groups wake up. This man cannot legislate gun cap. He is bound to obey the law. Talk to your Congress critters to make the laws you need. Barr is perfect for the job or do you not care if once again someone is for law and order.

As long as his boss is a big 2A supporter it doesn’t really matter what he thinks.

Yep, and I wish he had a boss like that instead of one who illegally imposed gun control and green lighted red flag laws.

He also sidetracked national reciprocity so it well never see the light of day.

You’ve been played but you might like that.

Look up his involvement with the murder of Vicki Weaver and his work on behalf of the murderer, Lon Horiuchi.

No, Barr is best friends with Robert Mueller for 30 years! No!

The AG enforces the law, and the 2A is the law of the land. Save your worrying for those who actually make laws.

I don’t like where Barr might go, with his interpretation of the 2nd Amendment. I won’t say any more than that.

Trump hired his greatest enemy, Sessions & Mueller.

Trump is hiring William Barr, his greatest greatest enemy.

Trump either rescinds Barr now or Trump is his own best enemy.

I no longer can defend Trump hiring his enemies. Otherwise these are ALL NON ISSUES. Trump has created his own ISSUES.

Machievelli, The Prince, says the first act of a new ruler should be to purge your enemies at the top.

Still waiting for the purge of enemies like William Barr.

Yes it does.

Don't be fooled into believing that if he gets on the supreme court that he won't do whatever he wants.

But the “shall not be infringed” part of the Second Amendment has been routinely ignored...

Which is ironic since it’s the only part that contains a “shall” statement and therefore has any legal effect. The first part about militias provides context, but without a “shall” it doesn’t actually assert anything that must be obeyed. Our 2A rights are established in the second part.

if this is a correct report (and it has so be reported several times), then PDJT needs to find another job for Barr that is not involved in our constitutional rights

AND NOMINATE SOMEONE WHO DOES CARE ABOUT OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS

after 8 years of Obama/Soroz/Peloousy undermining our rights and liberties, we need... and we deserve...at least this minimal consideration.. respect.

Who is his boss, Donald "take the guns first and go through due process second" Trump?

DJT's stance on guns may not be enough to impress you but it was good enough for the NRA and if he would have lost you would already be burying your weapons in the back yard to keep them from being confiscated.
