FULL TITLE: Grandfather of One Covington Student is ACTUALLY a Native American Vietnam Veteran Unlike Nathan Phillips, Family Responds to Stolen Valor, Shame on Him
The family of one of the Covington High School students seen in the viral videos is responding to the reports of stolen valor by Nathan Phillips and saying shame on him.
On Tuesday, The Washington Post has had to issue yet another retraction after falsely claiming that far-left Native American activist Nathan Phillips served in the Vietnam War. He didnt but this lie was previously used to help raise money for a documentary about his life.
Correction: Earlier versions of this story incorrectly said that Native American activist Nathan Phillips fought in the Vietnam War. Phillips served in the U.S. Marines from 1972 to 1976 but was never deployed to Vietnam, the update reads.
The supportive media have also been stealth editing articles to change the wording from him claiming that he was a Vietnam veteran to a Vietnam era veteran.

Has the non-deployment been confirmed and double-checked?
Nathan Phillips had also claimed to be a “Recon Ranger”...
When I read this to my husband (retired USMC) he uttered words and phrases that I can’t even paraphrase on a family friendly site!
I wish President Trump would invite all of them to the White House and bring his grandfather too.
Wow! random_navy_guy (@angrytigerp) really tears this Phillips guy’s story up.
Dick Blumenthal: "Nathan was my best good friend. And even I know that ain't something you an find just around the corner. Nathan was gonna be a leftist agitator but instead he died right there by that drum in Kentucky".
He said it himself in a 2007 video.
I received this reply on a FB discussion with a friend earlier. Can anyone confirm?:
His actual name is Nathaniel Richard Stanard. Marine Corps Reserve and discharged as an E-2. His MOS was 1141, Basic Electrician. His only military award was Expert Rifleman. To be fair, he said he was “A Vietnam times veteran”. In the interviews I have heard, he never said he was a Vietnam veteran. Subtle, but big difference. He also went AWOL 3 times and was discharged ‘for the good of the service’.
