A few weeks ago, Rahm Emanuel crawled out of the depths of hell to state that Trump can only be defeated by splitting his base.

For those of you whining about the President’s decision today and spewing all of that doom and gloom nonsense, you are making Rahm’s strategy happen.

This was NOT an ideal outcome today, but to score this as a total victory for the Rats is ridiculously short sighted. There WILL be bumps on the road. However, if anyone can pull off the wall, it’s President Donald J. Trump.

Lick your wounds tonight ... avoid spreading misery and depression tomorrow. This isn’t over, not by a long shot.

Give an inch, they take a mile.

I guess I am more of the type of person that you increase the pressure on both sides until there is so much pressure that both sides come to an agreement.

If one side blinks before maximum pressure, as the case here, then you have lost your leverage. Trump has lost leverage.

The fight might not be fully over, but he has lost all that pressure that was building.

I’ve been comforted by the voices here that what looks like every other Republican craven capitulation is actually a master stroke. The capitulation are always followed by the rats rubbing it in, why just like this. Good luck with the whole declaraing a national emergency thing. The other side will break the land speed records getting a Hawaiian or Sam Francisco district Judge to block it. Then.... we’re done for the balance of this term. But, all of that is just my paranoid delusions. Any number of people here are saying it’s going to work out just fine. I’m so excited!

Whatever you wanted Trump to do, he can do it in three weeks when the government shuts down.

Surely charlie the schmuck realizes that the term 'democrats against the wall' can bring forth many visions. I'm all for seeing more than a few up against a wall myself.

Yup. I am one of the disappointed. Still support him, just...disappointed. I’ve posted this elsewhere here:

I’m certainly willing to give Trump the benefit of the doubt here. But I have one question for everyone here:

Come February 15th, do you think that

1. We will have legislation ready that funds the wall 5+ billion; or

2. Trump will declare the emergency.

I predict Lucy, football. On both. February 15th. Neither. And truly hope I’m wrong.

Their goal is, and has always been to thwart Trump and his America First agenda.

Which means their goal is to deny us.

Yes, GOP is an enemy force.

The border deal goes all the way back to 86 and RWR getting schlonged by Kennedy and ONeill. Republicans break ranks and run away, sheltering in place. Democrats never break ranks and no matter what, just push harder.

That’s what’s most disconcerting.

Even if Trump gets everything he wants, all it takes is one Democrat in the WH to undo it all.

Whereas whatever Democrats get, stays forever.

Yup. Trump is taking Lindsey’s advice whereby it’s a three week furlough, and if after that, Pelosi rejects funding, Trump declares national emergency and sends in the Army Corps of Engineers to build the wall.

Democrats are firmly against the wall.

Two ways to take this. In fighting this statement means you're getting pummeled and you're backed up as far as you can go.
Subconsciously admitting he's getting whooped up on?
He could have chosen many other words to say the Democrats are against border security, but he didn't and used those words.

Consider this. The next rat will run, not walk, to sign the UN mandate and the wall won’t matter that much.

It would have been far worse to have his veto overridden and I wouldn’t put it past Republicans to do it because the open border crowd could put the issue to rest for good.

Don’t underestimate the enemy.

I suspect the truth is that Congress in both parties are getting filthy rich on cartel money to keep the borders open.
