When people have religious values, there is a public sense that there’s SOME authority higher than the government, that standards aren’t quite totally malleable.
Christianity is tightly married to the democratic impulse, and contributes to outrage and action when Gummint goes awry.
Da Gummint wants to rule over us w/o outside accountabiity.
The occupying tribe wants to live behind high walls with their dim-witted, areligious poltroons till fields and man factor assembly stations, asking no questions.

I know that morality changes over time, but I still think a "morality test" for those in public office has more upside than downside. JMHO.

Once Dennis Miller said that he had been on a plane with a lot of born-again Christians going to a convention. The plane had problems and was descending fast. Passengers expected they would die. Miller said, “... and they didn’t CARE!”
