I agree. Every person currently alive who was a slave before 1865 should be compensated.
There are very, very few people alive today whose Grandparents were alive in 1865.

My mother, who is almost 79, her paternal grandfather and grandmother were alive before 1865 (both born around 1859-61). Her father, a WW1 vet, was born in 1897.

My ma’s grandfolks was born in 1847, 1855, 1854, 1860.
My pa’s grandfolks was born in 1850, 1856, 1842, 1861.

None had high cheekbones.

By 1887, one was dead and 3 were widowed.
