All-star lineup of Tucson reporters faces buyouts, layoffs loom
Tucson Sentinel ^ | Feb 26 2019 | Dylan Smith

A list of household names on the Arizona Daily Star staff must soon decide if they'll stay on the job — the newspaper's corporate owners have offered buyouts for older workers, with the veiled threat of potential layoffs pending if not enough staffers accept.

At least a dozen journalists have been given 45 days to decide if they'll accept six months of salary to walk away from their jobs as part of a cost-cutting effort by Lee Enterprises, the Iowa-based media chain that runs Tucson's daily newspaper.

While I’m sure The Left will poo poo any suggestion that nationwide “reporters” or “journalists” or how bout just “kids”...…………..are getting laid off because decades of radical mouthing has resulted in thousands of alternative media outlets that people watch on the web.

I hope all the liberal bastards get fired! To this day they don’t have any idea how much tens of millions of hard working US citizens literally hate their guts!

I dropped the Tucson RED STAR years ago. It is now little more than a “Penny Saver” type publication masquerading as a newspaper. Not even suitable for birdcage duty.

Known by many in Arizona as the Red Star.

All-star lineup of Tucson reporters

I have a feeling the only people using this phraseology are the reporters themselves.

It brings to mind this scenario:

Customer: 'Hey McDonald's...we're not so fond of this product and won't be buying it in future.'

McDonald's: 'Sorry about that. Please tell us what you like better and we will try to provide more of it.'

Reader: 'Hey newspaper...your product is a weak mix of AP/WaPo/NYT tripe we already read 24 hours ago plus biased, poorly-written local coverage plus lots and lots of ad pages plus some outdated 'features' plus local editorialists attempting to mimic Gene Robinson and Ruth Marcus.'

Newspaper: 'Shut up you absolute idiot. Just for that we're going to make the paper smaller and include more ads and more wire service idiocy. Oh, and we're establishing a LGBT section.'

They’re still peddling newspapers? Amazing.

I have no use for news that’s delivered via picking it up out of the gutter and driveway.

All-star lineup of Tucson reporters??

They always refer to themselves as stars and superstars. Like the Democrats stooges trying to convince all, "Shes's the upcoming Democrat star" or "Beto O'Rourke: Democrats dazzled by rising star in Texas"..

It's all bull sh*t meant to convince the easily led cup droolers these career politicians are somehow, "Stars".

Total jackassery.

Drip, drip, drip, the sound of the print media’s slow, agonizing death. Doncha just love it! Maybe since it’s Tucson, these worthless, out of work “pseudo journalists” can “compete” for jobs cleaning toilets at the local hotels and motels. People who have a few bucks stay in these places, so they don’t need to learn Spanish.

I love the self-pity: ‘XYZ has been here since 1981.’

So he’s had nearly 40 years of dragging the paper down to this point? What responsibility does he bear?

The Red Star has been a far left mouthpiece for going on 50 years.

Used to be counterbalanced by the Tucson Daily Citizen. That went belly up and the only “news” was the Star.

No sympathy for them going in the hole. These are the trash who trumpeted the likes of Raul Grijalva when he was ripping apart Tucson Unified School District.

Their fake news is getting worse and worse; nobody cares about the
Red Star
in Tucson anymore.
