This could be a nightmare, and not just based on having clueless kids voting.

If states left their voting age at 18 for state and local elections, then states and localities would have to do a split voter roll of some sort, conduct the federal elections separate from state and local elections, to accomodate the sweet 16 voters.

If I recall correctly, in the early 70s, the Congress lowered the voting age to 18 by statute, but the Supreme Court overturned it, saying that while Congress could set a voting age for federal elections, they did not have the authority to set a voting age for state and local elections.

This case led to the 26th amendment, amending the constitution to set the 18 year old voting age nationwide.

Unless the Roberts Supreme Court overturned the prior precedent, you would have to have a split roll voting scheme to accomodate separate ballots. I fear that the more complications you build into voting, the more chance of shenanigans benefiting Democrats could emerge.

Tell you what, Pressley, I will go along with Age of Majority at age 16 when Age of Consent is also age 16.

Ready to have you teenage daughter doing it with a 55 year old man?

Didn’t think so.

"My amendment will lower the voting age from 18 to 16, allowing our youth to have a seat at the table of democracy."

Before she recommends anything she needs to be taught the difference between a republic and a democracy.
Words matter.

If she really wanted to do something for her black constituents besides voucher schools and restore solid black families by discouraging abortion this is what I humbly suggest support this which would bring jobs for her district;

WHY ARE WE ALLOWING CITIZENS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES
ENTER US ILLEGALLY GRANT THEM RIGHTS
THAT THEIR COUNTRY DENY US HAVING
WHEN WE ENTER THEIRS LEGALLY ???
It’s time we consider illegal entry by any person who is a non Mexican citizen illegally entering the United States through the US Mexican border a defacto Mexican citizen with limited Mexican constitutional rights subject to their laws while transiting. As well as any Mexican citizen entering illegaly exempting those who do so legally and meet US citizenship requirements. All subject to reciprocal citizen treatment a citizen of the United States receives in Mexico through the Mexican constitution on citizenship .

Besides being unable to vote one must also be a citizen to own land and Mexico is very restrictive about granting citizenship. Because of that a US citizen besides not being able to vote,and cannot have title in their name to any land property in Mexico. And until that is changed the US and the affected state should consider making that reciprocal.prohibiting citizens of Mexico or countries with similar restrictions from doing both voting and land ownership..

That means lowering the age of majority to 16. No longer deductible on their parents taxes, not covered by parents insurance, able to purchase liquor, etc.
