” The pilot sent out a distress call and was given clearance to return,”

That’s an important piece of information

"...Ethiopian Airlines, widely considered the best-run airline in Africa..."

Their superb pilots are undoubtedly highly-accomplished veterans of the razor-sharp Ethiopian Air Force.

Withhold judgment. All possible: Mechanical-, pilot-, weather-, terrorism-related.

First Lion Air (Indonesia) and now this one. Is there a defect in the 737-8 MAX?

I believe this is the second 737-Max crash in its first year.

The “best-run airline in Africa” sounds a bit like the “prettiest girl in North Dakota”.

There are no accidents and no coincidences. Who was on the plane? How important were they?

Isn’t this the second BRAND NEW 737 to crash recently?

Then we had the 767 Cargo Plane crash in Texas a couple of weeks ago.

Might have to revise an old saying, if it’s Boeing I ain’t going.

Ethiopian Airlines... I’m sure their maintenance procedures are absolutely top-notch!

Waiting for the “here we go again planes are so dangerous” comment.

Oh wait, that’s on every train accident thread by the train haters.

Yup, that won’t appear here.
