Thanks for trying to bring down facts to the thread Erik, but unfortunately youre fighting against the tide. Once upon a time there was intelligent debate. Nowadays not so much - with the only saving grace being that at least they are not Liberals. Just goes to show that the degradation of exceptionalism affects both the high and the low. It may affect the Liberals in more obvious ways, but even in our side it has still had its effects.
In the same way JFK and Gary Becker (conservative yes, but he had some economics ideas on the welfare state that older Dems latched on) must be spinning in their graves once they see what has happened to the Democratic Party; for the GOP President Ronald Reagan and Milton Friedman (Friedman included because he really was pro small government) must be spinning just as fast when they look at the modern Republicans. To be honest, Republicans in the past decade and a half couldnt even beat 1960s Democrats in terms of conservatism, but let me stop here lest I get zotted for speaking what many must feel deep inside even though they dare not say it ...
On Ethiopian - the airline had one of the best safety records in the world, it was flown by competent pilots with thousands of hours on the 737, and the plane itself was less than four months old. It crashes five or six months after a similar Max went down, and both indicated vertical speed anomaly. In the first it was hinted there was something wrong with the automatic AOA compensation, and we will see what the final reports on that (and the current) accidents are. The country is not Muslim (and, like Kenya, is one of the US main allies in fighting the type of Islamic radicals on that part of Africa). The Ethiopians are very professional with close ties to Israel.
But why let facts get in the way. It is a shit hole country anyway (actual comment on FR).
Moral of the story: Wait a couple of years to fly on a new production aircraft.
Southwest is too dependent on them to voluntarily take them out of service. On the other hand, Southwest has been having labor problems with their mechanics recently.
Welcome to FR, Noob.
You might try using Google before posting.
You are absolutely right. So many on FR are ignorant a-holes who give conservatism a bad name.
There is a reason why it says “Loose lips sink ships” before you post a comment.
FR has been used many times to paint us in a negative light. We should be more mindful of what we post. We can be tough, bold and use bare knuckles....but let us get the facts right.
People who posted the things above about Ethiopia probably are not smart enough to find it on a map. They sicken me and should either learn to be more mindful or be removed from FR.
There are two additional options: terrorism, though not necessarily Islamist, and sabotage.
Even in the beginning one had to know who was credible, and ignore the ignorant.
Nothing has changed, except many of those with real knowledge have been purged.
At the height of TWA’s heydays Ethiopia hired the top ten or so Of TWA’s Line Captains and a hand full of flight op folks and tasked them to form a national airline which mirrored TWA’s success.
They succeeded
Three crashed in one year with a newer plane can about kill the program.

Stupid post.
Another very stupid, stupid post.
Ethiopia is not Muslim. In fact, one of the first Christian churches outside of the Holy Land was in Ethiopia.
So African and Chinese and Indonesian pilots can’t fly them properly?
How many have Southwest pilots crashed? And SW is having a problem with their unions.
Is it possible that the only 737s crashing are ones that were built in China?
I could be wrong. I tossed out an opinion right before going to bed based on my opinion of Boeing engineering and China’s usual way of playing against American tech firms.
Thanks for doing your part to help me better understand the events by simply insulting me.
Initially, these crashes appear to result from the 737 MAX's design and software changes from previous models and a possible documentation and training screw-up by Boeing.
Yeah, found it. I don’t watch network tv or much tv at all.
