Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) on Thursday slammed Vice President Pence for having said he would not dine alone with women, calling it “outrageous.”
In a brief interview with MSNBC, the 2020 presidential candidate was asked what she thought about Pence.
“I disagree with him when he suggests it’s not possible to have meetings with women alone by himself,” she said. “I think that’s ridiculous — the idea that you would deny a professional woman the opportunity to have a meeting with the vice president of the United States is outrageous.”
Harris was referring to comments Pence made to The Hill in 2002, in which he said he never eats alone with a woman other than his wife. The comments were later resurfaced by The Washington Post in 2017, sparking a furor.
Alyssa Farah, Pence’s press secretary, quickly responding to Harris in a post on Twitter, knocking her for “repeating this false claim.”
"He’s elevated women to positions of leadership throughout his career & relies on their advice & counsel,” Farah wrote. “Get your facts straight.”
Harris’s comments regarding Pence were prompted by MSNBC host Peter Alexander asking for her take on fellow 2020 presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) saying Pence is not an “honorable person.”
“I disagree with most of what the vice president stands for, when he makes decisions about our LGBTQ community in a way that doesn’t understand that they should be entitled to full equality and all rights under the law as any other American,” Harris said in response.
Pence, a devout and outspoke believer in the Christian faith, previously opposed same-sex marriage and is not viewed as an advocate for LGBTQ rights.

On the military academy where I’ve worked since ‘88 it has ALWAYS been forbidden for any staff to council or engage in any closed door official or unofficial activity one on one with any female. Even if the staff is female and the subject is male. Even counselling for evaluations between superiors and subordinates.

Kamala Harris, a certified whore, complaining about a man with standards and values he chooses to uphold... priceless... which is more than can be said for her. Pence’s high standard of accountability is the opposite of that held by the low senator from California.
This “Me-too” proofs Pence, given his position as a Christian lightning rod. Many ministers do the same as a matter of prudence and remaining transparently scandal free. This doesn’t mean every single man in every single situation has to follow that rule. But in many situations it is wise.
Absolutely, and it boggles the mind that someone like Harris would try to belittle VP Pence on this issue.
Women in ministry often follow an analogous rule.
Spiritually, since Pence has his hands in a ministry related to sexual trouble, it’s smart. It closes off an avenue that Satan might take. He should calmly ignore the catcalls of those who don’t understand because they can’t understand.
