Washington -- Lawmakers on Capitol Hill held a rare hearing on gun control Tuesday morning to discuss so-called "red flag" laws enacted in several states to allow courts to issue orders confiscating the guns of individuals who are deemed to be a risk to others or themselves.
The Senate Judiciary Committee, led by Republican Chairman Sen. Lindsey Graham, heard from policy experts, law enforcement officials and advocates -- including a parent who lost her 19-year-old daughter to a shooting -- during the public session.

"I'm far more enlightened than I was before," Graham said, adding that he hoped Congress would be able to come to a bipartisan agreement to help implement red flag laws in states.
"I really can't see a reason why we can't pursue this at the federal level, to incentivize states," Graham said.
There are currently two bills in the Senate, one introduced by GOP Sen. Marco Rubio, of Florida, and one proposed by Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, of California, focused on incentivizing states to implement red flag laws.

At least we have Donald “Take the guns first, go through due process second” Trump in the White House.
Hitlary would already have your guns.
No due process.
No legal representation.
Guilty until proven innocent.

Why not get people that own guns write legislation? And some second amendment experts? Letting gun grabbers write this is joke and simply a step toward gun confiscation and truly undermining the 2nd amendment.
“Red flag laws” are aptly named. Maybe the next iteration will be “hammer and sickle on a red flag laws”.
Dumped spouses are going to love this law. It’s already in affect in Kalifornia
“Hitlary would already have your guns.”
How? Details and operational concepts, please.
Obama proved that Presidents are not omnipotent dictators.
But no opposition?
This stinks - "red flag" laws are ripe for corruption and are going to get someone killed.
Well, the first ones to be confiscated should be those belonging to members of Congress, the Executive Branch and the Judicial branch, and all those who protect them. These are the most dangerous and unstable people in our Republic.
“No due process. No legal representation. Guilty until proven innocent.”
In CA and NY any disgruntled individual, not just a family member, can denounce you to the po-po.
And if you get on little cupcake’s bad side, she can drop the hammer, too.
It apparently doesn't matter to you that they would have already been gone.
I like my chances going forward with Trump.
The hundreds of Lefty Federal judge-presidents who are running the country now would have been under the radar in a Hitlary administration.
"A Federal judge today ruled..." that elcid70's guns are gone. ;-)
Tell that to Catherine Engelbrecht, and the people that died from "Dick" Holder's gunrunning.
And tell it to President Trump, who just out out of 0bama's Deep State barrel.
This crap needs to get to the Supreme court and get shut down.
Beware of Bush League Republicans.
They MUST be replaced.
