So, he has a history of lying to the police. This is not a first time offense. Then you throw in the false letter, and you have 3 times that he lied to the police.

You bring up a good point....this 2007 misdemeanor episode would normally have awaken a guy and reset his compass. In this case, twelve years later....he goes for massive repeat. If he gets off, I’d pretty much guarantee you that within five years, we see him in national headlines again and doing another false statement to cops routine.
The cops, after realizing it was all a hoax...should have started with a bill for false information to cover the man-hours they spent on this.
