Patently unconstitutional, and the states were ruled to have to obey the Constitution.

You are forgetting that the Constitution prohibits states from entering into compacts with other states. That would be an unconstitutional means of bypassing the Amendment process.

Don’t worry. It will be upheld for the 2020 election, then overturned as unconstitutional in 2021 after the lib gets in.

>>The odd thing is this could potentially help the republicans as well

The rats are not going to be consistent. If this compact were EVER to benefit republicans, it would be immediately dropped.

If the courts find such a compact Constitutional, it will have the force of federal law enforced by the federal courts. It won’t be gotten rid of on a whim.

I am sure they are aiming for 2024 hoping far more state legislature go Democrat with 2020 and 2022 elections.

But 2024 is not 2020. Anyone confident in Pence 2024 , or who?

“The compact has so far been adopted by blue states”

How much do you want to bet that they will try to back out of the deal, if a Republican wins the popular vote?

I’m surprised they didn’t write that exception into their resolution...

I so, so want Trump to win the popular vote so that these blue states have to award him their electoral votes. That would be the sweetest possible irony.

There was no popular vote contest in 2016 anymore than there was a talent or Miss Congeniality competition. I could not respect any national popular vote that was not based on common standards for voter registration, voter identification, vote casting, vote security, vote counting, and vote reporting.

The odd thing is this could potentially help the republicans as well.

Not very likely. In the event that a Republican candidate wins the popular vote, the Democrats will just say that this scheme is unconstitutional, or come up with some other excuse, and refuse to comply with it.

Democrats are going to try to steal the election, one way or another.

Wouldn’t an “ National Popular Vote Interstate Compact” require an approval from Congress? Maybe they shouldn’t have used the word “Compact”?

I don’t believe it’s unconstitutional but it certainly may require a approval by congress & the President.

Amazing that state are running to give away their own citizens’ votes to New York City and LA County.

“I don’t believe so. The constitution does not spell out HOW a state may allocate their electoral votes”

Yes it does. The Constitutional issue is voters from one state determining the electors of another state. The Constitution is clear that voters in the states they reside in are the ones involved in the process of determining their states electors, whether directly or indirectly, not voters from other states.

Gotta prove it. Maybe we'll get a Special Counsel to investigate collusion between the states. I think Mueller is looking for work :D

Not to beat a dead horse, but...

'nuff said. Wonder if the Delaware Gov. has seen this?
