President Trump Announces What He'll Be Doing Instead of the White House Correspondents' Dinner

Speaking to reporters on the South Lawn of the White House Friday morning, President Trump announced he will not attend this year's White House Correspondents' Association Dinner. He plans to hold a rally instead.

"I’m going to hold a rally,” Trump said. “The dinner is so boring and so negative that we’re going to hold a very positive rally.”

Last fall, Trump said he "may" attend the dinner. This is the third year in a row he will be skipping the event.

So-called comedian Michelle Wolf bombed so badly last year at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner that this year, for the first time in decades, they will have an author instead of a comedian. Good first step in comeback of a dying evening and tradition! Maybe I will go?— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 21, 2018

Last year's dinner came under harsh criticism after hired comedian Michelle Wolf viciously attacked White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, who was sitting just feet away at the head table. The Association hired author Ron Chernow to speak about the First Amendment for this year's dinner.

“The White House Correspondents’ Association has asked me to make the case for the First Amendment and I am happy to oblige,” Chernow said about his upcoming remarks. “Freedom of the press is always a timely subject and this seems like the perfect moment to go back to basics. My major worry these days is that we Americans will forget who we are as a people and historians should serve as our chief custodians in preserving that rich storehouse of memory. While I have never been mistaken for a stand-up comedian, I promise that my history lesson won’t be dry.

“I’m delighted that Ron will share his lively, deeply researched perspectives on American politics and history at the 2019 White House Correspondents’ Dinner,” WHCA President Olvier Knox released in a statement last year. “As we celebrate the importance of a free and independent news media to the health of the republic, I look forward to hearing Ron place this unusual moment in the context of American history.”

No word yet on whether White House staff will also skip the event.

Picking the lint from his belly button would be more productive than giving any of them the time of day.

“Freedom of the press is always a timely subject...

The Constitution gives protection to the "press" (i.e. newspapers). It does not give protection to the Broadcast media.

I love the way he just doesn't care what they think, write or say about anything.

In fact, he goes out of his way to rub their face in the world of SUCK they created for themselves. Their best days are OVER and he's playing a huge part in their ruin - which is a large part of why they so viscerally despise him.

I just hope these dirtbags are meeting at the local Sirloin Stockade for their little get together - otherwise I object to my tax dollars being spent to feed a bunch of yahoos who will spend the evening criticizing and making fun of our leadership.

If Trump, Sarah, et al, boycott this thing this year and next year, it’s over for them.

The greatest president ever, who is busy making America great again, should order a big cow pie served to each and every one of them. Maybe it will humble them a bit. Then he will have made the American press great again too.

The Constitution gives protection to the “press” to stop the ruling elites and help protect us from them.

The press, for the most part, have done a 180 and now protects them from us!!

May I suggest a rally in PA, AZ or WI.

So great that our POTUS would rather spend time with us deplorables than the “elite” riffraff!!

I'm convinced Obama used the 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner to shame Trump so badly that it would keep him from entering the 2012 presidential race, despite his many recent media appearances in the first few months of 2011. As a result of those media appearances, many people in the media were openly wondering whether Trump was planning to use those appearances to gauge whether the time was right for him to enter the presidential race. A year and a half prior to the 2012 election would have been almost exactly the right moment to enter the race, a race for which Trump had been priming for four decades, partly begun under RMN's tutelage.

Obama made his multi-media (obviously with Hollywood's help) presentation a 17-minute put-down of Donald Trump. It was actually a very tenuous moment in history, with some voices already being heard here and there, saying BHO's Long Form Birth Certificate--released only three days earlier--showed signs of forgery. Nonetheless, Obama used the evening to try to humiliate PDJT for ever questioning his Hawaiian birth (sic). BHO that evening said: "No one is happier, no one is prouder to put this birth certificate matter to rest than The Donald, and that's because he can get back to focusing on the issues that matter, like, did we fake the moon landing."

When Trump acquiesced later that year to what must have seemed the weight of a mountain of "official Hawaiian evidence," telling the press later that year that he believed BHO was born in the United States, there would be no way of swimming against such a current for that presidential election cycle.

Despite the fact that a majority of US citizens accept that BHO was born in Hawaii, it has now been shown that BHO's proffered LFBC is invalid, having been forged in several ways, not the least of which is that the CIA-connected Director and Registrar of the Hawaii Department of Health put forth three successive, invalid verifications of that certificate, PDJT should feel vindicated, even though media icon Wolf Blitzed argued to his face, "Donald, you're beginning to sound a bit ridiculous, I have to tell you.".

How different the world might be by now if The Donald had run and won in 2012!
