A tweet that has since been deleted went viral over the weekend for claiming that President Trump referred to asylum seekers trying to gain entry into the U.S. as “animals.”
At issue was Trump’s comments during a May 2018 listening session about immigration, when he responded to remarks about MS-13 gang members by referring to them as “animals.” Many at the time took his comment out of context to suggest he was referring to all immigrants.
Nearly a year later, Twitter user Mark Elliott shared video of those same remarks and tweeted that he referred to asylum seekers as “animals,” suggesting the president’s remarks were made recently.

The problem with this lie is it is an empty gesture. Those who believe it already come down as agreeing or disagreeing they are animals and those that don’t won’t be moved by this particular lie.

My very own brother who always was my best friend till then!! This lie repeated enough times might cause Trump a second term!! This lie and the Charlottesville lie are the tip of the spear for the a-hole left in 2020.The left sickens me. There will NEVER be a reconciliation with them.
I respectfully disagree. There are those who will not be moved either way because they have made their minds up already and are predisposed to believe or grasp anything that corroborates their worldview (confirmation bias).
However, there are many people out there who are not news junkies. They hear the constant diatribe against the President so every opportunity we have to illustrate how he has been treated unfairly impacts the credibility of those beating the same drum - CNN, MSNBC, the Times, etc. The coverage across the board has been so negative, twisted, and even deliberately false that these self-proclaimed pillars of journalism have done irreparable damage to themselves and therefore to their chosen narrative.
American culture includes a heavy respect for the idea of “fairness”. You step on this at your own peril - just ask HRC. Her email scandal, the pay to play allegations, and the overall arrogance of the left harmed her during the general election in 2016 far more than the pundits will admit. She stepped on the idea of fairness. The FBI and our government stepped on it. The media stepped on it. They doubled down on this behavior with the special counsel investigation and media coverage. “They” remain too arrogant to recognize or admit it.
Trump understands this, but he also understands the damage that might be done to necessary institutions, the political advantage/power he holds with the declassification pen, and how ultimately he controls the game. If he simply waits much or most of it will be revealed independent of his own actions and it plays to basic fairness. He can nudge it along as necessary using it to his own advantage.
For the record - I would love to see it all disclosed. He has obviously chosen different for his own reasons and because it benefits him. We can do nothing more than trust his instincts.
Whether he said it or not is immaterial to me.
Most asylum seekers ARE animals. They migrate like a plague of locusts and they need to be turned back or eradicted like any common pest.
The real narrative that needs to be out there far and wide is dims support illegals over citizens...and even MS 13 over citizens!

This recycled lie from May 2018 was repeated by Ana Navaro, Dan Rather, Joy Reid, multiple prominent politicians, etc. to where it has been viewed and shared millions of times - the original poster retracted it and apologized 3 days later but the damage was already done. The falsehood was retracted with the retraction seen by several thousand, while the lie was seen by many millions.
