Cheap government loans simply flowed through the pockets of students and parents into the massive bubble that is our left-wing education-industrial complex (and a key leftist voting and social-engineering bloc)
It is the government and its political-interventionist policies that caused this.
The only possible positive related to this statist idea would be the inevitable reckoning liberal professors would face as wage and price controls would be imposed on the so-called centers of learning... and all the excessive overhead tied to probably every college in America.

Layabouts are going to have a hard time choosing between Warren and Bernie. Hey, Fauxahontus, how about demanding that colleges CHARGE less? They churn out mostly worthless degrees, the recipients of which cannot find a job in a related field, then use the money they charged to perpetuate their uselessness, while students and parents spend decades struggling to pay off loans, the money from which colleges inhale, then go on blithely washing, rinsing, and repeating, all the while complimenting themselves on their great superiority and merit.
