Are you discussing the Las Vegas State Legislature?
Sucks when a city totally controls an entire state!
And so the Old West dies, not with a bang, but with a gavel.
They will say the state constitution is not violated. It is all a matter of interpretation. "Other lawful purposes" leaves a big hole in those rights when a local jurisdiction passes a law saying no longer lawful.
” This was as recently as 1997.”
All out leftism did not get a good foot hold until the Bill Clinton era, which includes 1997. After a full 8 years of Clinton, then we have lefty George, then obama. That’s 24 years of losing ground.
So yes, by this time it’s a wonder Trump got elected.
The bigger, more direct problem, is that we had inferior candidates. Laxault junior was slick, entitled, and did nothing to say why he should be candidate. Loser campaigns, lose. It didn’t help that he was a Never Trumper, looked to Trump late for help. I don’t think there was a strong Republican candidate anywhere in the state. That is the problem.
Reno is not much different, nor is Carson City. All three urban areas are solidly anti-second amendment.

Interesting, and what I hate about Law.
I read the original statement, and see the “other lawful purposes” clause as an EXTENSION of the purposes specifically listed. In other words, “additional purposes which we have not thought to include”.
As you point out, a “lawyer” reads the same thing and sees, “Ha! That clause means that ALL of the purposes are subject to current law, even the ones listed.”
The legal profession is a disease.
I agree except including Pres. Trump. I think he has tried to actually make America great again but most of Congress, the Lame Street Media and all the liberal judges have sought to block his agenda.
The Kalifornication of Nevada is nearly complete...
Quite right.
Interestingly, the state's constitution is not "granting" language but rather "recognition" language as is our federal language.
Nor does the state abridge the words, "security and defense" with the word "lawful" as it does elsewhere for other elements in the text. Clearly the state acknowledged personal security and defense are beyond any abridging laws the state may envision.
One could quickly conclude this is no different in effect than the first step in declaring martial law.
This has occurred because liberals and Leftists are just like a plague of locusts: once they finish stripping and ruining one area, they move to the next and repeat the process. They’ve utterly ruined NJ, after having destroyed their hatching ground in NYC. Now they’ve done the same in NV, after having destroyed their hatching ground in California. Ditto for IN being ruined by ex-Shitcagoites.
Here’s a hint to the imbeciles: If you are leaving your home because the politicians that you elected made it a living Hell, then when you get to a new place DON’T VOTE THE SAME WAY!
It’s pretty simple; vote for a democrat, lose your gun
What’s the point of this? Almost no one will obey it, and no one will ever be arrested for it. The police aren’t going to be checking up on you at night to make sure that your guns are “properly stored.”
There goes any vacation/travel plans to or through the state of Nevada. I will save my hard earned dollars for use in the few remaining free states of America!
Great memories from a state with an historic and colorful past, suicide is painless. Claim your state back or simply evacuate. Good luck!

Vote for Democrats and this is what you get.
More people die each year of medical errors than by guns.
Lots of dumbasses in Reno/Washoe county helped. We weren’t part of that but know plenty who are.
#factsdontmatter!
It seems to me some Demoncrats are willing to risk a civil war to win in 2020.
