Nevada: Gun Control Bills Pass Assembly
NRA-ILA ^ | April 25, 2019 | NRA-ILA

On April 23rd, the Nevada Assembly voted to pass Assembly Bill 291 and Assembly Bill 153. AB 291 and AB 153 have been transmitted to the Senate and assigned to the Senate Judiciary Committee for further consideration.

Assembly Bill 291, introduced by Assemblywoman Sandra Jauregui (D-41), is omnibus anti-gun legislation that is a threat to both law-abiding gun owners residing in Nevada and those who are visiting. Most notably, AB 291 would:

Assembly Bill 153, introduced by Assembly Member Ozzie Fumo (D-21), would expand Nevada's current law regulating firearm storage that could make firearms unavailable for self-defense.

Not good and on the surface seems unlikely that these bills can be stopped. Democrats control both the House and the Senate, plus we have a Democrat Governor. Undoing preemption and allowing local-set lows and gun-free zones is a disaster for our second amendment rights and put us all at risk of finding ourselves violating the law or being disarmed and defenseless.

Leftists are so disturbed that they demand to control you and if they can not control you, they will disarm you so criminals can eliminate you from opposing their demand for complete control.

Well I have to believe Nevada counties like Douglas and Churchill, will not comply.
Maybe in Clark and Washoe, but not elsewhere.

[[the legislature would cede authority to the counties to pass stricter gun control laws without limitation.]]

The constitution did not state that we are free to bear arms ONLY IF local counties allow us to!

‘Tis a pity, too, because Nevada was even very recently a pretty wide-open state, where you could go down to the local drugstore, and sit down at a slot machine, get up and buy a bottle of whiskey, and go over to the back counter and pick up a revolver, rifle or pistol and ammunition.

Oh, and you could get prescriptions filled and buy aspirin, too.

Then you could go out on the desert and plink at abandoned automobiles to your heart’s content. This was as recently as 1997.

Civilization is a kind of double-edged blade.

Of course with the current make up of the legislative body, they and sissypants can pretty much get anything they want.

It would be awsome if most counties declared they are sanctuary counties for gun owners- and abolish many of the draconian laws already on the books-

And then the leftists who voted to destroy california no longer wanted to live in the state they destroyed, so they came to Nevada to now destroy it.

Leftists have all the traits of a virus.

That’s a real shame. Nevada was one of the most liberty-minded state in the Union.

“To disarm the people...[i]s the most effectual way to enslave them.”
- George Mason, referencing advice given to the British Parliament by Pennsylvania governor Sir William Keith, The Debates in the Several State Conventions on the Adooption of the Federal Constitution, June 14, 1788

“This may be considered as the true palladium of liberty.... The right of self defense is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any color or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction.”
- St. George Tucker, Blackstone’s Commentaries on the Laws of England, 1803

“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
- Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759

“The Constitution shall never be construed to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms.”
- Samuel Adams, Massachusetts Ratifying Convention, 1788

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.”
- Thomas Jefferson, Virginia Constitution, Draft 1, 1776

“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms.”
- Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, December 20, 1787

“The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”
- Thomas Jefferson, Commonplace Book (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria), 1774-1776

“The Constitution of most of our states (and of the United States) assert that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed.”
- Thomas Jefferson, letter to to John Cartwright, 5 June 1824

and so it goes, little by little, this country is being torn down from within- once red states are turning blue- once liberty-minded states are now adopting policies that trample liberty-

Yes, and it metastasizes through leftists fleeing the socialist hellholes they have created in their own states to infect ours. We are already seeing far too much of it in Texas.

The cancer attacking this Republic never rests.

The problem. Simple. The real Republic has not attacked the cancer. What have the Republicans, including Trump, gave up the real fight for years with talk, talk, talk, and are waking up too late. The communists have rolled over us so bad unless we immediately see the fight now we may lose our Country.

Not good and on the surface seems unlikely that these bills can be stopped.

If so, that will be a very sad day for Nevada:

"Every citizen has the right to keep and bear arms for security and defense, for lawful hunting and recreational use and for other lawful purposes." Nevada Const. art. I, § 11(1).

What's the point of this? Almost no one will obey it, and no one will ever be arrested for it. The police aren't going to be checking up on you at night to make sure that your guns are "properly stored."
