Obviously an attempt to get Trump himself to poison his own well. RATs did manage to get Papa Bush to break his tax pledge losing his reelection. Trying to get Trump caught the in the same trap.

Bush didn’t get the boot for raising taxes, although that was a SMALL part of it.
Bush was primarily shown the door for not finishing Saddam off. Rightfully so.
