“Hotel taxes and fees are like a Tariff on visiting non-locals.”

My pet peeve is the “resort fee” that is being tacked onto bills particularly by Las Vegas Hotel/Casinos. CircusCircus, a relatively inexpensive facility (part of the MGM Hegemony)has room rates as low as $24 but with a $32 resort fee added.

From the Bing search page:
“The daily resort fee for guests staying at Circus Circus is $32 plus tax. After tax, the nightly resort fee comes out to $36.28. It includes in-room internet access, use of the fitness center, boarding pass printing, and unlimited local calls.”
