Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates believes that some of the candidates running for the White House in 2020 may be too old for the job.
Gates, who at 75 is currently the chancellor of the College of William & Mary, said in an interview on CBS’ “Face The Nation” that the ages of presidential candidates like former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders could be a “problematic” issue for the two longtime politicians. Biden is currently 76 and Sanders is 77.
"I'm not sure you have the intellectual acuity that you might have had in your 60s," Gates said in a pre-taped interview. "The thought of taking on those responsibilities at this point in my life would be pretty daunting."
Gates, who served as defense secretary for both Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, also said that he thinks that President Trump may be too old to be in office. Trump, who is now 72, was the oldest person to be sworn in as president when he moved into the White House at age 70.
"When you're talking about being the president of the United States, the ability to do the job in every respect has always got to be a consideration," Gates said.

Instead of an age limit, how about a “Years in Government” limit? More than 10, you’re out.

In a slightly different vein, why should any conservative pay attention to the man who decided that the Boy Scouts of America could only survive by surrendering to the LGBTIA movement. Last time I checked, BSA is on the brink of bankruptcy over pedo scandals. Gates singlehandedly robbed me and others of pride in being Eagle Scouts.
With just half his brain, Trump can out-think any ten persons. And he has experience that no one can even come close to. I’ll stick with Trump for the next six years, and after that in some sort of consulting status.

As a general rule, an older man is wiser than a younger one, and less likely to be inclined to rash behavior. And much of a President’s job is done from a chair. Gates is full of crap.

True story, this guy is such a loser that when he was a USAF 2nd Lt. (O-1) in the mid-1960s, he couldn’t get promoted to 1st Lt. (O-2) in 3 year. It’s typically automatic after 18 months.
