As the Trump administration is set to unveil its latest iteration of immigration reform, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi slammed the proposal for more merit-based immigration as "condescending" and signaled that Democrats would not support legislation that does not include a pathway to citizenship.
A senior administration official told CBS News that the president's proposal aims to alter the composition of incoming legal immigrants, with a focus on increasing the share of highly skilled immigrants. The plan also calls for improving physical border security.
"They say family is without merit -- are they saying most of the people that come to the United States in the history of our country are without merit, because they don't have an engineering degree," Pelosi asked rhetorically at her weekly press conference.
She scoffed at the idea of "merit" as a policy description. Rather, she said, it's "non-merit -- it means merit in the eyes of Donald Trump."

Pelosi labelled the new Alabama abortion law “heartbreaking”.
Is it heartbreaking when an innocent child doesn’t get an opportunity at life because of one’s perceived problems?
Does she know(or care)that an abortion literally breaks the heart of the innocent preborn child by causing it to stop beating?
Does she know(or care)that one method of abortion involves injecting poison directly into the child’s heart?
Canada and Australia have merit based immigration. It is exactly the right thing to do.

Pelosi opposes President Trump not because she disagrees with his plan, but because it is HIS plan. She has already gone on record that she will oppose the President on everything.
She could not care less if her opposition hurts our nation.
She is the worse sort of politician, she is morally corrupt.
Probably one of her aides had to make an impromptu note for and outline so Nan wouldn’t forget what to say and gave her two subjects to pick from but she yapped about both. LOL
