A rapid-fire string of developments has congressional Democrats putting increased pressure on party brass to launch impeachment proceedings against President Trump, with one rank-and-file lawmaker reportedly saying the president is “raping the country” and others indicating it's only a matter of time before leadership changes course on the politically fraught issue.
Amid the internal tensions, Speaker Nancy Pelosi called a special meeting of House Democrats for Wednesday morning, where the impeachment issue and other battles are expected to be discussed.

That’s interesting, I always thought of Democrats as raping the country every since F’inDR tossed the Constitution to the curb for his expanded federal government.
2020 is going to be an even better year than 2016.
So what’s to stop any future Congress from repeating this?
That is, the next time there’s a Dem President and Republicans have a House majority, they can use their committees to harass the President, go on endless fishing expeditions with unreasonable & unjustified demands, then when he refuses to go along with the harassment, he’ll be impeached.
Is that really the way Dems want the country to be run?
Trump needs to remind Democrats — loudly — that the Constitution requires treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. Angry policy differences don’t fall in these categories. If the House impeaches without credibly charging those offenses, the Senate should simply refuse to vote on conviction.
Not just refuse to vote, refuse to accept the referral from the House. I mean literally take no actions on the Articles of Impeachment. If you read the Constitution there is a high level description of the process, but most of it is left up to improvisation (see Rehnquist’s designing of his robe for the Clinton Impeachment trial.)
