New York State lawmakers on Wednesday gave their final approval to legislation that would allow Congress to obtain President Trump’s state tax returns.

The bill, which is expected to be signed by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, would lift an existing state restriction on revealing an individual’s tax returns. It says the state Commissioner of Taxation and Finance shall release those returns if requested by the House Ways and Means Committee, Finance Committee, or Joint Committee on Taxation.

Look out, DeBlasio. This precedent WILL apply to him too.

It’s time to go after the Democrats - leak all of their tax records - find Obama’s school record.

Problem is the GOP is just fine with Democrats assaulting POTUS. We saw this movie with the Tea Party. The GOPe simply isn’t interested in defending anybody but their own.

They’re making an exception to an existing law .... just for Trump. The democrats are an absolutely outlaw criminal enterprise, and function with absolute impunity.
This Republic cannot stand under these conditions.

There is no opposition party to lawless Democrats in the Age of Trump.

It’s a good thing Trump is the only president in recent years to base his businesses in New York. It would be a real tragedy if the Clinton Foundation taxes were requested by the senate Finance committee.

Not likely. The GOP Senate is too busy subpoenaing Don Jr. for the 84th time.

What is the penalty if they do release them, other than the taxpayers paying the civil court judgments?

I don’t like the precedent it would set.

Every president would be subject to the same thing.

It violates their right to privacy.

Look, if there’s a (legitimate) criminal investigation going on, then there may be some instances where financial records should be revealed, but not in Congress.

It would be before a grand jury or in a court of law.

I notice that no records can be released to a Senate committee. Gee I wonder why.

Like it would ever happen to a Rat POTUS. Because the Rats, to their credit, know how to circle the wagons.

This is how Republicans circle the wagons....

It's not legal today. They pass a law making it legal. Too bad. You made it legal EX POST FACTO. The returns were not subject to access before the law was passed. Only NEW returns dated AFTER THE LAW IS PASSED are subject to the terms of the new law. Trump and his lawyers should be prepared to stomp on this stupidity immediately.

That almost captures it.

After about three circles, the Republican would drive off bored.

I agree. The political hacks who did not come from “money” would probably have poor tax advice... maybe some H&R Block at walmart or next to the latte shop. Trump has known he was running for president since 1998/1999 timeframe and he was smart enough to know just like Reagan that the DNC ‘LEFT’ him and not the other way around.

No time to stop and think. They were just proven faking the Steele dossier, lying to FISA courts to spy on Trump from campaign to administration, and weaponizing the intelligence agencies against him in a variety of ways.

And they IMMEDIATELY jump to the next attack, not recognizing that nearly everyone now knows it is purely political.

They cry wolf too much, though they expect us to believe it every time.

Federally, yes. But does that federal limitation apply to the States? For that/ matter does the NY constitution specifically ban bills of attainder? I’d hope so, but don’t know so.

Federal | Article I, Section 3: No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.

State | Article I, Section 10: No State shall ... pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law,

“Next, they’ll demand all Trump voters’ returns be public.”

Seems it would just be easier for them to leak it to the NY Times or equivalent. In any event it will be made public.

Is there an organization we can donate to go after these idiots? I mean as many law suits as possible and demands for their tax records, school records, medical records, etc. I would be willing to set up a monthly payment to a group of aggressive conservative lawyers willing to pick up this fight.

All the Dems/media are trolling for is anything the media can make into scary, large print, above the fold headlines to keep their emotion driven low info voters tweaked into a fever pitch for the next year and a half. The Dems/media know none of this is going anywhere, but they will rant and pound the table. Alinsky tactics...

Any individual engaged in this anti-American BS will be brought into account by the DOJ. Absolutely. This is distinctly anti-American.

So the Privacy Act of 1974 doesn’t mean a damn thing anymore, fantastic. So when do we get to examine Pelosi’s & her husband’s financial records? She’s been running a contracting scam with him for some time. For that matter, let’s see the same records for all of congress. There’s way too many of them going in with a 100 grand or so in the bank and coming out of their first term multi-millionaires. Congress wants to examine bank records, I’m game. Pelosi should go first.
