Bannon's group built the wall — a mile of it, anyway — over the weekend

BARCELONA, Spain — In what might be seen as a Memorial Day gift to President Trump, residents of a mountain range outside of El Paso today woke up to a new vista—a mile-long wall of metal slats constructed along the border with Mexico that just shot up over the weekend. The secret project, which started on Friday evening and was completed by Monday morning, was the work of We Build the Wall, a new group whose director is the former White House strategist Steve Bannon. The CEO is Air Force veteran Brian Kolfage, who had raised $20 million to build the wall through his GoFundMe project, but it appeared to be floundering until Bannon took the helm.

Bannon, who for much of the weekend was in Kazakhstan for a geopolitical seminar, says the project, overseen by construction mogul Tommy Fisher of North Dakota-based Fisher Industries, involved hundreds of workers and cost $6 million.

He says his group asked local authorities what is the most dangerous part of the border with Mexico, and they were pointed to this precarious mountain strip, “where the cartels and asylum seekers are coming in” through a gap between two 21-mile strips of completed wall. The group hastily “purchased the rights” to the land and went at it Friday evening. “We had to catch them by surprise,” says Bannon, who predicts residents are “gonna freak out” when they see what was erected over the past two days.

I think it is a good move, but in the pictures it doesn’t look like it goes far under ground to deter diggers, unless I am missing something.

Fisher isn’t going to put up junk. He’s looking at future contracts and his reputation. What we can’t see was no doubt put in ahead of the slatted wall when the photos were taken. Betcha there’s some neat secret stuff in that footer too.

I’m private land, with private money. As soon as the media returns from it’s weekend at the gay bars, it is going to freak.

They couldn’t leave out “....His political activities in Europe geared to shift the EU to the hard right....” Hard right meaning folks who love their country and hertiage and would prefer to keep them. That kind of “hard right”? But, awesome wall job. How long before they’re sued into removing it? Enviros, demolib judge, cartel complaining about interfering with commerce?

There are other videos from the Fisher group about their process. 6 ft deep concrete foundation to prevent tunneling & fiber optic motion sensing cable on both sides of the fence that can distinguish between vehicles and human steps to allow border agents time to respond.

From Company Spokesman “We’re also adding paved roadways and we’re adding value added by using all weathering steel instead of just regular carbon steel to take the life of the barrier to 75 years versus 25 to 30, and then finishing it probably 2.5 to 3 times as fast.”

I love that this story broke on a public holiday. I can’t wait to see the lefties’ heads (both media and political) exploding tomorrow.

Great news. Private hands, not government, could probably have a complete border wall built in 6 months. Wish it could happen.

Considering they put up a mile of wall in mountainous terrain in a weekend, I doubt there’s any surprises... yet.

But depending on how much of the area they purchased, surprises can be put into the ground behind the wall.

Interesting that someone decided to build a section of wall, leave a gap, and build another section of wall. Almost as if they didn’t want the wall to work.

Any gaps in the wall will funnel the illegal immigrants into a smaller area that is easier for the CBP to monitor and intercept any possible invaders.

They somehow avoided the lawyers.

How can all those legal documents be executed so quickly?

Expect subsequent court actions challenging the dotting of I’s and the crossings of T’s.
