Q The suspect in the Virginia Beach shooting used a silencer on his weapon. Do you believe that silencers should be restricted?
THE PRESIDENT: I dont like them at all.

Switchblades make me want to dance and stab Puerto Ricans.
Yeah, agreed, all Donald Trump did was express a personal opinion on suppressors. He made absolutely no moves to outright ban them or limit their production. Heck, he didn’t even VOICE a desire to ban them.
There’s plenty to criticize Trump for, but this ain’t one of them.
That ship sailed on FR during the 2016 primaries, when any support for anyone but Trump, or any expression of concern regarding the depths of his somewhat newly acquired conservative beliefs, became cause for banishment. I'm glad I voted for him in the general election, I will do so again, he's far better than anything the democrats will put up - but he was far from the best alternative we had at this time three years ago.
*** guess the potus has not spent hours on end shooting high caliber weapons with ear plugs or muffs on. ***
Sometimes, when DJt is ignorant on a subject, I wish he would just STFU.
He was still better than John Kasich, though, if we are to go by the Republican side, or even Marco Rubio, who backstabbed the Tea Party back in 2010, or for that matter Jeb Bush, who alongside the other Bushes were closer to RINOs. And while my personal choice was Ben Carson due to having immense respect for the guy and especially the fact that he was pro-life, I ultimately voted for Trump during the actual 2016 election (and even then, only after he nominated Mike Pence), as I was reluctant to back him after he effectively implied he had no intention of overturning Roe v. Wade.
No.
Machine guns?
No.
Flamethrowers?
No.
Bazookas?
No.
> At that time in history, the phrase well-regulated implied a condition we might phrase as well-trained or well-equipped. <
Interesting. Thanks for the info. That was one place where I lost ground when discussing the 2A with some of my liberal acquaintances.
Your answer motivated me to do a bit of digging just now. And I was pleasantly surprised to find out that you are right. From the link below:
Dr. Robert J. Cottrol is the editor of the book Gun Control and the Constitution: Sources and Explorations on the Second Amendment. And Cottrol, a Second Amendment expert and legal historian, is the Harold Paul Green Research Professor of Law at George Washington University. He says the words well regulated refer to proficiency and top-notch training.

Mildly critical?
What do you consider strongly worded? Death threats?
You too????
That comment explains a lot - and not favorably. You're basing your opinion on this serious topic with your vast experience in using suppressors in a video game.
Oh, please. Why the hell do we care about silencers. Give me a break. Silencers are associated strongly with murder. They are not associated with hunting or even defense.
Lies.
According to BATFE there are over 1 million legal silencers in circulation. Roughly 44 per year are involved in criminal cases. https://www.google.com/amp/s/freebeacon.com/issues/atf-despite-nearly-1-3-million-silencers-united-states-rarely-used-crimes/amp/
Hunting with silencers is legal in 34 states. Of the hunters I know, at least 2 routinely use them in this capacity.
I dont care what your feels say or what Hollyweird told you. Statistically, suppressors are not associated with murder. Thats a lie that exists only in your mind.
Yeah, they certainly were vile from the get-go, absolutely nothing like the American Minutemen DESPITE our school system claiming otherwise, and in that case, they’re even worse than the Bolsheviks due to their allowing the populace to have weapons specifically to get off on watching them kill each other out of nihilism. I’m not fond of the Bolsheviks taking away weapons once they were in power, but at least with them, it made a stark contrast with the Second Amendment and showed why the Second Amendment was truly necessary. The French’s way of doing it in a way tarnished the Second Amendment as well.
Glad you came around. Find someone who owns one who can take you to a range, and you’ll gain a much better understanding of what they do (and don’t do) and why they’re useful.
Yeah, I did, and now that people have actually educated me on the matter, it certainly convinced me to change my views on that.
I don’t know about owns one, but my cousin-in-law does go to a firing range, and he took my mom there once, so I suppose I could do so in the near future.
You left critism in your rearview with your first post, and started straight from castigation.
That kind of critic finds himself in many a fistfight.
How does not have a silencer prevent your right to bear arms. Stop being ridiculous.
“Bqut I am ignorant on this and curious as to who uses silencers, particularly on handguns, for good purposes?”
Do you have a muffler on you vehicle?
My problem with suppressors is that i cant find a suitable CCW holster for a firearm so equipped.
