Mayor Pete on Tax Cuts: 'The Reagan Neo-Liberal Era is Now Over'
PJ Media ^ | 15 June 2019 | NICHOLAS BALLASY

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, a 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful, said the governing philosophy of Republicans such as former President Ronald Reagan, who signed across-the-board tax rate cuts to grow the economy, should not be repeated in the future.

"What we've seen is that the rising tide rose, right? GDP went up. Growth went up. Productivity went up -- big numbers went up and most of our boats didn't budge. For 90 percent of Americans, you start the clock right around the time I'm born. Income didn't move at all -- so lower to middle income, really, almost all of us," Buttigieg said during a campaign fundraiser in Alexandria, Va., on Friday.

"And what we've learned is that supply-side idea that you just cut taxes and make the rich better off and it will find its way to the rest of us is wrong and the Reagan neo-liberal era is now over," he added.

Buttigieg was not available to answer follow-up questions from reporters at the event.

Because Petey is the center of the universe, as we all know.

Mayor Pete on Tax Cuts: 'The Reagan Neo-Liberal Era is Now Over'

I wish I had a list of all these sweeping, grandiose pronouncements from the various Democrat wannabees.

Guy talks pretty big for a freaking mayor.

Only reason anyone notices him is he’s being pushed by the girly media ... Which is what they have become and should be called.

He is an idiot. The nation’s widening gap and shrinking middle class has more to do with our increasing love affair with fascism....government business partnerships. The US government since Reagan has aggressively advocated globalism and it’s free trade agreements, moving our industrial base overseas (even paying for corporations to do so) and the wholesale importation of cheap foreign workers in everything from sweeping the floor to IT positions. “Too big to fail” banks socialize their private crimes and bad judgement.

We haven’t had a “Reagan” free market capitalist economy for decades now.

Tax cuts and supply side economics are a VERY different animal from government being a player in the economy and globalism.

Any chance because whenever there was any pressure on wages immigration (legal, illegal and temporary) was increased to bring in cheap labor? If the Dems were serious about a $15 per hour wage they would shut down the border to drive up wages.

A small city mayor never represents 90 % of Americans in any way shape or fashion. Looks like he is overcompensating for his small town experience.

Interesting that he uses the term “neo-liberal”. You usually hear this from European leftists. Less common in the US.

Of course he’s a typical leftist in that he’s hardwired to hate economic liberty. It’s like it’s written in their DNA.

Because he could have only added to the stupidity/ignorance.
