For sharing a video.
What kind of fascist police state are you running down there New Zealand? First you have armed police come question people about their political views, then you ban semiautomatic rifles, now you throw a guy in jail for almost two years for sharing a video of a recent newsworthy event.
Again, what kind of fascist police state are you running?
Because his live on the scene video might not match the government spin. Jailing him will stop others from doing this in the future. Smells of NWO.
Well NZ will have to build a larger jail since that video is on the internet (or is it?)
I watched the entire thing from beginning to end, I dont see where there was government spin.

We Americans incorrectly assume Free Speech is a norm. It is exactly not.

I still do not understand the why of the ban on the video
I saw the video. From the head camera mounting it felt like watching someone playing a video game. But the chief reason for its infamy is that it shows Muslims being gunned down. Can’t have that.
I don’t think they should be seen, or shown. I don’t want to see them, and if I owned a newspaper I wouldn’t want to print them, or a website I wouldn’t want to host them. But that’s far different from criminalizing them.
I’m just sort of curious, we see fictionalized death by the millions on TV and in movies. Kids play games where they work in teams to kill as many avatars of humans as possible. Someone could recreate the entire footage of the NZ mass murder on a sound stage to make it look almost identical. Would NZ ban that?

I can think of lots of reasons why that video SHOULD not be hosted. It is not wise. In New Zealand, posting the video is quite illegal.
I cannot think of a single reason it CANNOT be hosted in the U.S. with our First Amendment rights. We have a perfected right to do the unwise.
Did NZ ban Childman Gumby’s “Dissin’ Amerika” video? It recreated the church shooting by some nutcase.

The 3,000 killed on 9-11-2001 are a number. Some people know someone who knew someone who died their but it’s still an abstraction.
18 year olds today never saw any of it. It is all before they had consciousness.
