Trump administration officials have put the Office of Personnel Management on the chopping block in an ambitious but controversial bid to reorganize the federal government -- and they are ready to furlough or even lay off workers if Congress stands in their way.
According to an internal document obtained by The Washington Post, workers could be sent home on Oct. 1 and laid off 30 days later, if Congress will not agree to their plan to eliminate the agency -- which essentially serves as HR of the federal government.
This is a crisis building for years, acting OPM Director Margaret Weichert told the Post. Weichert said furloughs are a last resort we are trying to avoid, and that a legislative solution would be the most straightforward answer.

The bureaucracy is a self feeding mechanism that will always vigorously defend itself.
DRAIN THAT SWAMP!
Another threat for the future where nothing will happen. pop.
This is fine, but it’s window dressing or as people will say it’s a start.
We all know the dangerous entities he needs to cut. But Trump can’t cut them even if he wanted to because he doesn’t have any real control over them.
Nothing will change as long as it’s business as usual.
Next up- Department of Education. After that, Department of Energy. Shut ‘em down!
Lol, love he Trumpster!! He’s always coming up with ways to Jan the HAPLESS liberals.
Just move the agency’s HQ to Barrow, Alaska
and issue mandatory transfers.
I suggest a firing squad.
The HR of federal government is the first place to start.
Everyone like to blame “beancounters” but you want to know who has the deciding votes in corporate layoffs and plant closings? Legal and HR.
Gasp! "Even" lay them off. Welcome to the real world, children. I went though a series of layoffs during downturns. Working for small companies can be great fun and has huge upside potential, but, in downturns, the exec staff and board trim people faster than you can say "Jack Sprat."
These eternal sinecures at the fed gov have royally ticked me off for decades. WHY shouldn't government adopt standard business practices and regularly ax useless and non-producing people? Why should these people feel they have a secure job no matter how little they produce and how worthless the product? I worked at companies that every year got rid of the bottom 10% to 15% of performers.
Wouldn’t you just LOVE to wake up one morning and read that something has really happened? How about a headline next week like...
“Office of Personnel Management lays off 50% of workforce.”
“Comey, Jarret and Brennan indicted. FBI still working to locate Obama to serve him papers.”
Is this the cesspool responsible for Trumps few errant picks?
I would like to know what they will replace it with. Any large employer needs an HR. Maybe its inefficient, maybe its bad for other reasons. Before I would support such a move, I would like to know why they are wanting this.
President Trump won’t get their votes anyway!
I love this president. Not only does he fight, he knows how to fight!
There should have been major layoffs across the board in all fed dept. on day one.

Find and Fire the leaker
Highly Redicules what used to be Payroll and Insurance...
OPM is the number one security leak in this country ...... the dollar store of background investigation data in my experience.
Close those MF’rs down and don’t imbed them in the organization tasked to grant future security clearances . Fire ALL those SOB’s in OPM .
