In 1955 I was in the Border Patrol when Eisenhower was mass deporting illegals via airlines, railroads and ships. I don’t recall the exact number. I don’t know how they managed to take them into custody then. We certainly didn’t have the manpower we do now. But we didn’t have the number then that we do now either. I used to ride the deportation trains from El Paso, TX to Marfa, TX where we were relieved by another crew. I believe they were destined to Brownsville and placed aboard ships.
God bless I’m he’s our only president, but unfortunately he is pulling this “talk big but then last minute climb down/back down” crap with North Korea situation and their provocations and clear obstinance, too, and it’s beginning to paint him as a paper tiger. I don’t see it as some masterful negotiation tactics because it is not yielding results, just contempt and disdain from the bad guys. He’s not projecting follow-through strength, will and core commitment (as a Reagan or Bush 1 for example) to an established path but wobbling too much and equivocating last minute in my opinion.

If the President was serious, instead of complaining about all the sanctuary politicians, he would start charging them with a few of the crimes they are committing. Or maybe even shut down all immigration as he has absolute authority to do, or even declare the invasion an invasion and militarily close the border.
He needs to quit telegraphing ever decision and inviting them to dissuade him. The democrats will never bargain away this issue, ever.

Well-led and prepared armies win wars before they are fought, and their greatest victories are won without firing a shot.
Regarding tariffs, did you notice that Mexico capitulated when faced with the immediate certainty of punitive tariffs? That was a resounding victory for President Trump and for the United States of America. It is apparent that Democrats believed President Trump was going to proceed round-up raids of fugitive illegals, so now they want to negotiate. That's a win, no shots fired. And if they back away, let the raids go forward. This man is a leader.
