China is set to demand that President Trump remove a ban on Huawei and lift punitive tariffs to reach a trade agreement, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
Chinese President Xi Jinping will reportedly present those terms to Trump when the two leaders meet at the Group of 20 (G-20) summit in Osaka, Japan.
Chinese officials told the Journal that Beijing is insisting the U.S. remove telecommunications giant Huawei from its “Entity List,” which virtually bars the company from buying components from American firms without U.S. government approval.
U.S. officials have said Huawei's products pose a national security risk.
Beijing also wants the U.S. to lift all punitive tariffs and drop efforts to demand China buy even more U.S. exports, according to the Journal.
Trade negotiations between the two countries collapsed last month, prompting Trump to increase tariffs on $250 billion in Chinese products while threatening tariffs on an additional $300 billion in goods if Xi does not meet with him at the summit.
China responded by increasing tariffs on $60 billion in U.S. imports.

I have an idea. How about if Huawei does technology sharing with a large team of American scientists who can monitor for spyware? A lot like the arrangement China has forced on everyone else, but in reverse.

“Demand” is not the word you want to use when talking to Trump ,LOL
End all tariffs pending a technology review on waway. If the review finds spyware, Trump will implement tariffs on every Chinese product coming into the US.
It’s not that we just want China to buy more of our stuff, dude. What part of “fair and reciprocal” doesn’t translate???
