The press has been very solicitous of Kirsten Gillibrand, one of the lower-tier Democratic presidential candidates polling at 0.5%, who, if they had a little table, would star there.
They intone about her stance on abortion or on women's rights, or, very delicately, her efforts to be heard.
After all, as the talking heads say: each candidate is striving to stand out in a field of ten, the better to break out.
Here's the one and only thing Gillibrand did to stand out: she interrupted others. She failed to respect time limits, making life hell for the moderators in a difficult and unwieldy format of 10, with an audience to control, too. And she couldn't stop talking. I believe she was the one yap-yap-yapping on camera in the background as the moderators tried to close out the segment and go to the commercial.
In my own Twitter feed, which I filed comments on in real time, I counted four instances where Gillibrand failed to respect time limits, and five if she was that yapping voice in the background on fade.
It signaled a kind of indiscipline, not to mention inconsiderateness, buttressed by a lot of ego. No respect for the collective picture from this woman, no respect for the party rules.
Not exactly a leadership quality, actually. More the act of a self-regarding jerk.
It stood out because most of the other candidates did try to keep within limits and show respect the format. It certainly wasn't a perfect one, but if everyone did what Gillibrand did, the whole thing would have been a disgusting mess. It was at certain points, but very few candidates disregarded time limits and interrupted others the way she did.
File under "jerk." File under "immature."

I just wanted to get me some ranch dressing...
Well, I’ve been telling you guys what a complete bimbo and fool this hack is, right? And she did not disappoint.
Gillibrand like Klobuchar is a non entity. No one knows who they are, where they’re from, and no one cares.
Off topic perhaps, but I wonder if these debates will cause some to drop out, and/or lack enough support in polls and fundraising to be included in the future debates.
Yang, Delaney, Williamson, are not taken seriously as candidates. And if Gillibrand is really at a tiny percentage in polling, if that doesn’t spike for her, she can’t be taken seriously either.
kirsten ... “little miss vacuous”
Jelly-brain is beyond stupid, vapid, and ignorant.
She is the personification of the lily-white, entitled, prep school she attended. And worse she won’t STFU.
The wife and I watched her on the Fox Townhall show recently (Truthfully, I could only stomach a few minutes of it.) We both perceived her exactly as you described. She reached for and achieved high-gag level.
At least four or five candidates will drop out by the end of this year die to lackluster fundraising. Then after the first primaries in Iowa, we’ll see another five drop out. By the time we’re done with South Carolina, we should be down to four or five remaining candidates.
RE: She is the personification of the lily-white, entitled, prep school she attended.
She graduated MAGNA CUM LAUDE from Dartmouth and graduated from law school at UCLA.
And oh yeah, she also studied abroad at Beijing Normal University while Deng Xiao Ping was chairman.
But if you want to know what the Democrats want, there’s no other person to look at than Gillebrand. She has no core principles... the ULTIMATE WEATHER VANE.
Yup.
Let’s hope ‘Gilly’ gets everything that’s coming to her.
I read a comment by a woman saying that Gillibrand is the kind of female that normal females learned to hate in junior high.
A woman, who won’t stop talking. That kind of rings a bell...
Let’s not overstate her education. She was Magna Cum Laude in “Asian Studies” and lived with some actress. She was “studying” in Beijing and Taiwan. She was a sorority girl.
There are rumors that sororities even keep a database of tests.
Then onto an Ivy Law School, which is fine for average minds, but it does not require deep intelligence beyond acceptance. And acceptance also becomes much much easier when your parents and family are eyeballs deep in the Democrat party machine 130 miles away.
She’s a dim bulb, less educated than most people you meet in your day.
S
Schumer’s hand puppet
Is she still involved with NXIVM?
Jelly-brain majored in Asian Studies, magna cum laude.
Let me stop laughing and catch my breath.
Whew...Ok. Better now. Seriously? Asian Studies?
I’m not impressed. Might as well be basket-weaving or tie-dying. Asian Studies is not a measure of intellectual heft.
Oh, that's a long time to wait for this din to die down.
Then after the first primaries in Iowa, well see another five drop out.
February... ugh... long time, long long time...
By the time were done with South Carolina, we should be down to four or five remaining candidates.
Man, this process is waaay tooo looooong....
Can the Democrats drop anyone they want from the debates? I am visiting my mother & she is a bleeding heart liberal, but believes Trump couldn’t ask for more free publicity than 1/2 these nuts are giving him.
