This is link to the commemoration (and re-enactment)of the Battle to free Mogilev Belarus from the Nazis June 28, 1944. It is quite the production and we know someone who participated yesterday. Not a lot of news comes out of Belarus, but they are definitely proud of their history and teaching younger generations about freedom. Hopefully it will catch on more.

The Soviets didn’t “free’ anywhere.

They somewhat freed themselves, as life under Nazi rule was going to be even much worse than under Stalin.

Says Who?

Remember the Communists of the U.S.S.R. and what they did to Russian citizens?

Killed somewhere north of 40 million people who they could not control.

Told the remaining citizens, basically, what they could eat, what jobs they could do, that they could not leave the U.S.S.R. under penalty of death, etc.

Not sure how you arrive at your conclusion, but I'd say it was at least, AS BAD, to be under the thumb of the Communists as it was to be under the thumb of the NAZIs, with the exceptions of the Jews, of course.

To listen to the Russians tell it they alone won WW2 all by themselves, alone among the world, they, the Dictatorship Of The Proletariat led by Stalin, The Mountain Eagle defeated the Fascist Hitlerite forces.
