A family member tells TMZ Iacocca passed away, but could not provide any further detail.

Iacocca is credited with saving Chrysler from bankruptcy back in the 1980s ... and he's often referred to as the father of the legendary Ford Mustang. The minivan iwas based on a stretched K-car platform. But at that time, just about everything chrysler made was based on the K-car.

I’ve done a lot of rotten things in my life, but I’ve never owned a Chrysler.

RIP to the auto industry legend who created the Mustang and saved Chrysler. 94 is a good ripe age to live to.

“To this day, Chrysler products are crap because of this guy.”

Really? Chrysler cars were absolute junk when he took over. That is why Chrysler was on the ropes. People had stopped buying their garbage. Iacocca didn’t ruin Chrysler. It already sucked. Mercedes made it somewhat better, but it sucked so bad Mercedes lost their ass on it. (I have a Dodge truck, I love it, but it’s piss-poorly made.)

If memory serves, under Iacocca, Chrysler payed back the money to the government early in fact.

I still think it set a bad precedent that now the expectation that the Government would decide the winners and losers in the marketplace.

When cars were still cars and America was still America.

And Detroit was the most prosperous city in America. Before the grifter politicians and socialist unions destroyed it.

My father has a 10 year old Sebring. You have to take the tire off of it to change the battery. Total POS engineering.

If my memory serves, the government didn’t loan Chrysler any money. They guaranteed repayment to the banks who made the loans. The taxpayer was on the hook, but Chrysler made it good.

Indeed, I am deeply distressed by the absolute ignorance and baseless statements made by several on this thread.

Whatever happened to the “Shut up if you have nothing nice to say” courtesy regarding the dead?

This place used to be where adults came to discuss various political and pop culture topics POLITELY.

It seems to have taken a step or six hundred towards the DU. in level of discourse.

I daily drive a 99 300M in and out of Brooklyn every day. Very little trouble over the almost 21 years I’ve been driving it. Monthly synthetic oil changes and a trans flush every 50k works wonders. Fun car to drive too.

I happily owned a '65 and a '66 Mustang (convertible). Just loved those cars. Thank you L.I.

So did I but the '66 was a red with a white cloth top and white interior.
