The only reason there is a “refugee crisis” is because politicians have created, unwittingly perhaps, what is known in the Insurance biz as “an attractive nuisance.”
Open borders AND a welfare state, is going to attract people who don’t belong here. We’re constantly told that automation of low skilled, low wage jobs is on the way. What are we going to do with millions of illiterate (in their native language, never mind English) unskilled people?
There is zero need for more unskilled labor.
Both political parties used to have as part of their party platform support for tariffs and a decided policy of limiting immigration to protect wages and jobs.
