When talking heads don’t know what they are talking about: FNC host says Barry is on the verge of becoming a “major” hurricane. Ouch! Not even close to reality.

Gulf Shores, Alabama. AKA - The Redneck Riviera!

Stayed at The Lodge (Hilton) in Gulf Shores a couple of weeks ago. Nice place! We will be going back there again. I hope it doesn’t get beat up by this storm.

This is no more than a rain event.

I am in Mobile and it’s a pretty nice rain we have going right now.

Media needed something to hype. What the media missed was a real story — HURRICANE MICHAEL. The media hyped the storm going into the east coast the week before and became hurricane fatigued. Then a major hurricane went into Florida a week later and they missed it.

Mobile area has received 40+ inches of rain from hurricanes before and I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. We’re in areas where it runs off rather quickly.

I cannot predict the future and there may be problems down the road from this storm (I sure hope not) but for right now, I am enjoying a nice quiet rainy day in Mobile, AL.

There is a whole lot of weather trailing deep into the GOM behind Barry. The prolonged rainfall with this slow moving storm will most likely be its legacy in the coming days. NHC cone illustrates Barry slowly moving N into Arkansas Sunday night.

Just saw that BARRY has 75 mph winds, and that NOAA
says wave heights are 12 feet on the Gulf shore.
A slow moving storm with lots of moisture and rainfall, only traveling at approximately 5 mph.
The projected storm/rain event is projected to hit as far North as Illinois, and into the Ohio/Mississippi area.
With the Mississippi already at flood stage, this weather event is nothing to minimize or ignore.
Stay safe.

"The prolonged rainfall with this slow moving storm will most likely be its legacy in the coming days."

So correct.

It rained all night and is still raining as I post. I'm glad we're not expected to get significant wind or we'd have trees crashing down everywhere...the ground is soaked, soaked.

"Stayed at The Lodge (Hilton) in Gulf Shores a couple of weeks ago. Nice place! We will be going back there again."

Most people don't think of beautiful 'sugar white' beaches when thinking of Alabama. But, we have'm!

BTW....

So, how long before the “Trump’s FEMA drops the ball on Barry” stories begin to roll in?

I lived in Pittsburgh. I learned very soon to watch Gluf weather as tat would be our weather in 2 days or so.

I guess it is the cold lakes pulling up the warm Gulf air...?

Looks like Barry is on a beeline to drench the ‘Burgh in a few days.
