He's right. During the lunch break, somebody told Mueller how stupid he appeared and how inconsistent his words were.
They told Mueller the truth about how bad his testimony was going.
Mueller, realizing how bad his words would sound when the truth came out and fearing the consequences, decided to retract and correct his morning testimony. Smart move on Mueller's part, but it would have been better if he had spoken correctly in the first place.

He has no clear understanding of the matter as evidenced by his series of contradictory statements made to to Attorney General Barr, the world at large in his press conference, the joint letter released after his press conference, his statement to Rep. Ted Lieu and his final correction done during the afternoon session.
2. He was so befuddled under the questioning of Rep. Ted Lieu that he simply did not understand the import of the question or the import of his answer
3. He was manipulated during the break as Rep. Ted Lieu alleges to change his testimony
For the purposes of this point, take your pick. Every explanation tells us how easy it must have been for Andrew Weissman or any member of his staff to manipulate their titular but demented leader for the last 2 1/2 years.
Does this tell us why the sharp dossier was not investigated? Why Misfud what was not prosecuted? Why everything possibly anti-Trump was investigated and illuminated while virtually everything positive for Trump was utterly ignored? Does it tell us why Volume II reads as a propaganda diatribe rather than a legal document?

You bet your ass somebody got to him! I suspect that his supposed buddy, William Barr, told him, “You spent over two years on this investigation and didn’t find shit. You start making things up in this clown show in front of your Democrat buddies, YOU will be the one going to prison. Got it?” Or words to that effect...
It also encapsulated that whenever the Dems asked a question, his desire was to immediately agree with them and then sort it out when the lie was just too big...with the Repubs, he went the other way and immediately said he wouldn’t (not “couldn’t) talk about the topic...

My understanding of this is that Mueller gave testimony in the morning that conflicted with the report. Bottom line, he revised his testimony to save his own sorry a$$ from perjury charges.
Maybe it’s what’s left of Mueller’s conscience that is what got to him.
I happen to agree with Ted Lieu... Mueller acted like he was distracted and expecting ‘big’ news in the first session... He seemed far more contrite the second half of the day... I do not buy into the notion that Mueller is senile ... he could distinguish instantly between a Republican and Socialist asking a question.
