WASHINGTON—Immigrants legally in the U.S. will be ineligible for green cards if they use any of an array of social programs, and prospective immigrants will be barred from entry if they can’t convince a consular officer that they will never use such programs, as part of a final rule published by the Trump administration.
The rule, issued by the Department of Homeland Security, is one of the most ambitious and sweeping elements of the Trump administration’s immigration policy, according to administration officials as well as immigrant-rights advocates opposed to the change.
The administration was all but guaranteeing fresh criticism from immigration groups for opting to push ahead in the wake of shootings in El Paso, Texas, that were apparently motivated by anti-immigrant animus. Similar sentiments were expressed after Immigration and Customs Enforcement carried out raids on food processing plants in Mississippi last week.
The rule change tightens the definition of who is likely to become a “public charge” under immigration law, a designation that prevents an immigrant from obtaining legal permanent residence, and which is also used by the Justice and State departments to determine which noncitizens can be removed from the country or prevented from ever entering.
Use or potential use of a benefits program such as Medicaid, housing assistance or food stamps could now disqualify an applicant, including around 900,000 immigrants currently in the U.S.

I cannot disagree with this policy. Lets just not gloat about it and stop issuing green cards willy nilly to illegal aliens and come up with tighter h1b visas for government subsistence programs.
Sheesh, we haven’t even gotten around to fixing this mess yet, we’re still just overturning abysmal polices from previous administrations.
Similar thing happened to a farmer here. Most just sneak illegals in to work the farms but this one wanted to do it right and hired a legal migrant along with his whole family. The Mexican wife was his housekeeper. The man kept “losing” things around the house and farm. When he discussed it with another farmer he was told it was the Mexicans. He said “no way, they are legal”. The other farmer told him to leave a small amount of money around ($50) and see if it was there next time he looked. It wasn’t. The Mexican housekeeper had it. He fired the whole family and sent them back. Their excuse was that it was OK to do that in Mexico because if a neighbor had something and you needed it that it was OK to take it if you had the bigger need.
What happened to the sponsors who are supposed to guarantee that the immigrant stays off the dole?
Especially public schools. The fact that we are forced to pay to educate illegals is astonishing.

to qualify for permanent residence you must be able to support yourself and any families members accompanying you. That fact should be available in writing as it has been the law for more than 50 years.
Let’s suspend green cards indefinitely.

Falsifying documents is usually done in connection with broader criminal aims, such as extortion, government fraud,

Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) explained how migrant children are being “rented” to help other migrants claim asylum when attempting to cross into the U.S. over the southern border.
Graham said migrants have been “renting” their children so that others can claim asylum in the U.S. and his claim that 30% of families apprehended while attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border are not really related.
Graham responded by saying that officials at the border have started a “pilot program” where they are testing the DNA of migrant family units at the border and that he was told of “about 60 children” who were being “recycled” at the border to allow more people to claim asylum.
“They told us about 60 children that were recycled,” said Graham. “They pick the child up in Central America, they bring them to the United States, everybody’s released, and the child goes back to Central America to do it again.” Watch the video at web site: ...
The Senate Judiciary chairman continued on to call the system that has “exploited” children “sick” and “rotten to its core.” He also brought up that “100,000 unaccompanied minors” had been apprehended at the southern border “this year alone.” “This is a sick system. Swiss journalist Urs Gehriger recently visited African migrants who breached the border and hung out on the streets of San Antonio, Texas, waiting to go elsewhere in the country, and he met hostility from people who didn’t want to share details about their experiences, conflicted each other, and had rolls of $100 bills. In a recording played on Fox News, Gehriger asks a migrant from Congo how she got to America. She refused to say.
As Gehriger continued to ask simple questions, he said they backtracked and “were not answering at all.” “They wouldn’t tell me anything about how they got here, and then they started to get aggressive and they were contradicting each other,” he told Laura Ingraham. “One said they ran through the forest, and another said no, there was no forest, and they were actually arguing among themselves,” Gehriger said. He said they started to get “aggressive” after questions about money and help.
Gehriger believes the illegals were coached on giving answers to authorities. “I had the impression that somebody told them not to speak about it,” and acting like “now we’re here, you have to help us, give us money.” “What I found from an aid worker there, they actually do have money. Quite a few of them, because he spotted them under a tree, right in front of the shelter, counting a roll of money with hundred dollar bills,” Gehriger told Ingraham. Hundreds of migrants Congo and Angola were transported to San Antonio the week before, and city officials say they received no warning from the feds that they were coming. Last night I had a gal from Baltimore who was angry we sent her a normal taxi. She complained that she needed a van because she had her kids with her. This was 4:00am. Vans hold 6 ppl; that is how many seatbelts are in them.
My dispatcher cancelled her revised trip.
She had SEVEN children with her, plus her pregnant self. At 4:00am ET. EIGHT ppl.
I can’t invent the stories I hear each night at my job, believe me.
To be overturned by the end of the week by a Obama or Clinton judge.
