Folks who aren’t US citizens may be able to take a class but doubt they’ll get a Texas CCW permit. Of course a few feet across the bridge and someone could probably phony one up pretty easy. :-)

You have to take a class to get a concealed carry permit in Texas? I always figured you didn’t need anything to buy a gun in Texas except cash. 2nd amendment folks OK with this? I don’t think the class is a bad idea but what the heck do I know?

Un, no they don't. And the only "gun safety" course I needed was taught by my dad, starting at age four, and ongoing to age 12. Now, folks with no prior background in safe gun handling probably "ought" to get some training.

What? Everywhere you get a concealed carry permit, you take a class on the rules, regulations and procedure. That's the point. Why stir people up here over it? Wrong motive....

I stand corrected. Understood all locales required a class. I would think they need one before giving a person a permit to carry.

New Hampshire requires four references. The police mail a form to each of your references and you don’t get a permit until all four have responded. No class is required.

My references were the Mayor, my State Senator, the Police Chief and the Fire Chief.

Those are good references.
Hopefully not everyone requires references of such stature in order to get their permit.
